Pike men facing charges including meth trafficking in Floyd
Two Pike County men were recently arrested on charges including trafficking in methamphetamine as Kentucky State Police were investigating an armed robbery in Floyd County. According to an arrest citation written by KSP Trooper Billy Ball, on March 14, while he was on patrol in the Grethel area, officers were notified to be on the lookout for a stolen vehicle that had been taken from the victim of an armed robbery.
March Declared Nutrition Month in Floyd County
Floyd County Judge-Executive Robbie Williams signed a proclamation March 12 declaring March as Nutrition Month in Floyd County, according to a statement from ARH. “Nutrition is very important and something we need to focus on so we can have healthier communities," Williams said. "In 2013, we ranked 120th out of Kentucky’s counties for overall health. We have been improving and now are at 108. While we have made some progress, we want to see that number improve faster because that means that Floyd Countians our citizens are healthier.”
Five facing charges after allegedly sneaking fentanyl into Floyd Detention Center
Five people have been implicated for their alleged roles in a scheme to get fentanyl into the Floyd County Detention Center. According to court documents written by FCDC Sgt. Casey Hutchinson, on March 8, two women — Hillary Hall, 38, of 1st Street Fox Bottom, Harold, and Megan Elliott, age and address unavailable — worked with three inmates — Landon Frzier, 43, of Garden Terrace, Hi Hat, Jeffery Hunter, 34, of Ky. 122, Melvin, and Andrew J. Prater, 24, of School Street, Betsy Layne, on the conspiracy.

BSCTC approved to offer paramedic training program
Big Sandy Community and Technical College announced in a statement March 14 that it has been approved to offer a paramedic training program beginning in August.
