Floyd County Legacy Foundation awards $217K to nonprofits, helping with renovations
NEW ALBANY, Ind. — The Floyd County Legacy Foundation awarded more than $217,000 in grants this year to 15 nonprofit organizations. Rauch’s Fairmont Neighborhood Center in New Albany is set to undergo significant renovations. The center provides programming and support for people with disabilities and their families and has had multiple additions since it was originally built in 1956.
YMCA offering lifeguard training classes as summer ramps up
NEW ALBANY, Ind. — For folks like Floyd CountyYMCA Senior Director of Aquatics Michael Kragel, a shortage of lifeguards makes a busy summer season challenging. "The need is great," Kragel said. "We have added hours for the summertime. Here in Floyd County, we have four different summer programs that utilize the pools four days a week, and we need the lifeguards here so we can come and have them swim safely."
