Community mourns Jakolbi Taylor; funeral to be held Saturday
ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - Roanoke is preparing to say farewell to one of its own as the community gathers for the funeral of 16-year-old Jakolbi Taylor. Jakolbi was shot and killed after a basketball tournament in Myrtle Beach over the weekend. The funeral is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. and will take place at Patrick Henry High School, where Jakolbi’s passion for basketball flourished.

Grant funding to help mark anniversary of American Revolution
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A free, Charlottesville-wide event is getting some money to help mark the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. On Thursday, Virginia Humanities announced more than $162,000 in grants for 20 nonprofits across the Commonwealth. Locally, the University of Virginia is getting $7,500 to support the Cville Puzzle Hunt 2025.
