Buffalo Bills Could Miss Multiple Stars For NFL Playoffs
2024-01-09
It all came down to one game, but a huge win gave the Buffalo Bills the top spot in the AFC East and the second seed in the AFC for the NFL Playoffs. This means Buffalo will host a couple of playoff games, until the AFC Championship (if the Baltimore Ravens are alive). But while the win was great, there were a couple of losses in the game as well.
Gabriel Davis suffered a knee injury in the second quarter of the Bills vs Dolphins AFC East matchup on Sunday night. He ended up not returning to the game, leaving his status for the NFL Playoffs Wild Card Weekend game in doubt.
After undergoing tests on Monday, Davis was diagnosed with a PCL strain. While this is not considered severe, and there doesn't appear to be an actual tear, his status for the matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers is certainly in doubt. Watch this situation throughout the week. While logging practice time isn't necessary for him to play in the playoffs, logging at least limited participation by Friday would be a positive sign.
With Gabe Davis out, Khalil Shakir and Trent Sherfield both stepped up for the Bills. Shakir has continued his success in his second NFL season, totaling a game-high 105 yards and six catches. Sherfield finished with 24 yards and a touchdown.
Stefon Diggs showcased his typical "passion" in the game by politely asking for the ball. While the lack of plays to get Diggs the ball is still very obvious and confusing, he finished the game with 87 receiving yards. This was his highest total since Week 6.
Rasul Douglas Also Injured
Aside from the Gabe Davis injury, cornerback Rasul Douglas suffered a knee injury of his own. Douglas has proven to be a tremendous acquisition since getting traded from the Green Bay Packers. While Douglas thought there was a chance he could return to the game, there is less information and news regarding his injury diagnosis and timeline. However, if there is a week to be down a defensive back, a matchup with the Steelers' offense has to be high on the list.
So, what do you think? Will these Gabe Davis and Rasul Douglas play this weekend? Let's hear your score predictions!
