(FOX40.COM) — The Folsom Cordova Unified School District is eliminating school bus stops near schools next year.

The district said the Board of Education made the decision to cut bus stops within a certain distance of schools based on “operational costs and efficiencies, including staffing.”

The size of the radius around the school in which stops were eliminated was based on the grade levels the school offers.

Bus stops within 3/4 of schools with students in grades Kindergarten to 5th grade were eliminated.

Middle schools (grades 6 – 8) had stops within three miles were eliminated.

Bus stops within 4 miles of high schools were eliminated.

The district noted two exceptions to the rule.

Bus stops that keep students from having to cross Highway 50, the American River or Light Rail were not eliminated.

Special Education students with “required transportation services” are also exempted.

An updated list of exactly which stops were eliminated was posted to the school district’s website on Wednesday.
