    Pedestrian hit, killed in St. Bernard Parish crash

    ST. BERNARD PARISH, La. ( WGNO ) — A Folsom man was killed after being hit by a pickup truck in St. Bernard Parish in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 16.

    According to the Louisiana State Police, troopers began investigating the crash around 4:30 a.m.

    LSP officials said an initial investigation revealed that the man, identified as 35-year-old Andrew Sartalamacchia, was dressed in dark clothing and walking north on Pelitere Drive before walking into the southbound lanes of Louisiana 39.

    As Sartalamacchia walked onto the road, a 2014 Ford pickup truck was reportedly heading south on Louisiana 39 and hit him.

    Sartalamacchia suffered severe injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

    According to the LSP, the driver of the Ford submitted a voluntary blood sample and impairment “was not suspected.”

    The crash remains under investigation and routine toxicology samples were collected.
