JaVaughn Moore sported a noticeable limp as he made his way to the Bethel Park locker room after the game Friday night at Mars. Moore suffered a severe cramp late in the first half and never returned to the game, but the teen wearing the white No. 6 jersey was in a jovial mood as he spoke to a reporter.
More SRU Football accolades as season nears
The Slippery Rock University football team picked up additional preseason recognition with the team being ranked in the top 10 by both D2football.com and NCAA.com and four individual players being named to the D2football.com Elite 100 Watch List. The Rock were previously ranked No. 11 in the American Football Coaches Association preseason national poll, which is the ranking that will be used during the regular season. SRU was also picked 10th in the Lindy’s Sports preseason poll that was published earlier this summer. The Lindy’s publication also listed tight end Kam Kruzelyak and defensive back Josh Stokes as Preseason All-Americans.

We promise it will be a day full of fun including bounces houses, face painting, bead stringing, hotdogs, ice cream, an 80 basket auction, and a wiffleball tournament! All are welcome! This is the sole yearly fundraising event for the Owen Galluzzo Memorial Fund that was established in 2014 after the passing of 9 year old Owen Galluzzo following open heart surgery. The fund is housed by the Pittsburgh Foundation and raises money for nonprofit organizations that enrich the loves of medically fragile children.
