    Things to do in Fond du Lac this weekend include concerts by Copper Box, Liquid Courage, The Del Rays and more

    FOND DU LAC – Music, music and more live music. There is no shortage of concerts scheduled in Fond du Lac and beyond.

    Whatever your preference, you’re sure to find something you like, from the polka fusion of Copper Box to the long-time group The Del Rays.

    So, go out and support some local musical artists this week.

    Copper Box to headline Ripon concert series July 5

    Copper Box, one of the best polka fusion bands in the country, will headline the next Horicon Bank Ripon Summer Concert Series, set for July 5. The concert will run 7 to 10 p.m. at the Village Green.

    Fronted by former Riponite Danny Jerabek along with his wife, Michelle, Copper Box offers a unique musical experience of folk, polka, rock, blues and jazz. Other band members are Dan Cable and Danny’s brother, David Jerabek.

    Take lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Carry-ins are not allowed in the park. Beverages will be available for purchase, with proceeds supporting the entertainment costs and downtown beautification projects. Next week’s concert features blues by the Jay Stulo Band.

    Music Under the Stars features Liquid Courage July 8

    This week’s Music Under the Stars concert features Liquid Courage, an extreme variety band, July 8. The concert begins at 7 p.m. at Buttermilk Creek Park, 700 S. Park Ave. Admission is free.

    Liquid Courage covers songs from artists such as Elvis, Bodeans, INXS, Blink 182, Tom Jones, Violent Femmes, Billy Joel, Poison, Green Day, Fleetwood Mac and many others. They enjoy playing danceable songs, sometimes playing nearly 50 songs during a concert.

    The concessions stand opens at 6:15 p.m. If weather is bad, concerts are moved to the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds.

    Longtime performers The Del Rays to play free concert

    The Del Rays will headline a concert at 6:30 p.m. July 11 at West End Park, 200 Beaver Dam St., Waupun. The free concert is part of the Concerts in the Park series.

    The Del Rays are a four-piece band that has been performing together since the late 1970s. They perform a variety of rock 'n' roll from the '50s, '60s and '70s. The Del Rays have performed with national acts such as Sha-Na-Na, the Crystals, Bobby Vee, Fabian, the Fireballs, Bill Hailey’s Comets, Chubby Checker, the Buckingham’s, Loving Spoonful, the Romantics, and others.

    In case of rain, the concert will be held at the Waupun Community Center, 510 E. Spring St. Take lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Though admission is free, donations will be accepted.

    Thirteen Thursdays series to feature sister duo Reyna

    This week’s Thirteen Thursdays concert will feature Reyna, playing 7 to 9 p.m. July 11. The concerts are free and performed in front of Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts, 51 Sheboygan St.

    Based in Milwaukee, Reyna consists of sisters Gabriela and Victoriah Banuelos, who describe their music as “fun, danceable and glittery.”

    Drinks will be available to purchase from the bar, and food also will be available to purchase. Gates open at 6 p.m. Donations to Thelma will be accepted at the gate.

    Local organists take part in summer recital series

    Organists from the Fond du Lac area will present recitals this summer. Next up in the Summer Noon Organ Recital Series is Father Tom Lijewski and Wendy Pelletier. They will play at 12:15 p.m. July 11 at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, W1562 County B, Eden.

    Free-will offerings will be taken. Proceeds will go to a scholarship fund to support the training of young people to become organists.
