FOND DU LAC COUNTY – A 33-year-old man and 32-year-old woman from Green Bay were arrested following a vehicle pursuit through multiple counties July 21.

According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, the Wisconsin State Patrol notified the Communications Center at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday of a stolen vehicle traveling southbound on Interstate 41 near Breezewood Lane in Winnebago County.

Deputies responded to the area, and several minutes later, the Communications Center advised a state trooper was in pursuit of the vehicle southbound on Interstate 41 from State 21 in Winnebago County — though the pursuit was terminated as the vehicle exited eastbound into the city of Oshkosh on Ninth Avenue.

A deputy found a vehicle matching the description in the town of Friendship at about 7:20 p.m., but it had a different license plate than the one originally given. He attempted to stop the vehicle, which did not respond to the lights and sirens and instead increased speed on Lakeshore Drive.

The pursuit led to the city of Fond du Lac from Lakeshore Drive to Scott Street, and after the suspect vehicle failed to stop for a red light at Scott and Main streets, the deputy terminated the pursuit because of speed and driving behavior in the city.

Another deputy located the vehicle headed eastbound on Winnebago Drive near Prairie Road in the town of Fond du Lac, and again, the vehicle increased speed in response to the lights and sirens. The pursuit led them to U.S. 151 southbound, and the suspect avoided tire deflation devices before exiting at Johnson Street and continuing east at a high rate of speed.

The suspect vehicle moved southbound on Wisconsin American Drive, driving through multiple business lawns before returning to Johnson Street and nearly striking several civilian vehicles.

It then went southbound on Prairie Road and failed to stop for a stop sign at Division Street before a deputy made a Pursuit Intervention Technique maneuver, causing the suspect vehicle to lose control and collide with a tree near Morningside Drive.

The two occupants exited the car immediately and were taken into custody without further incident. The man, who was driving, was taken by ambulance to the hospital with minor injuries, and a deputy took the woman to the hospital to be evaluated for injuries.

The driver's charges include fleeing and eluding, operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, reckless endangering safety, receiving stolen property and possession of Schedule I and II narcotics drugs. He had a felony warrant through probation and parole.

The woman was out on a signature bond in Brown County for possession of electric weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia. She had an active warrant for that case, and a second warrant through Outagamie County. Her charges will include felony and misdemeanor bail jumping, fleeing and eluding as party to a crime, receiving stolen property, operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent as a passenger and possession of Schedule I and II narcotic drugs.

The sheriff's office did not release the suspects' names.

The pursuit lasted 15 miles. The sheriff’s office squad car received minor damage from the PIT maneuver.

In addition to Wisconsin State Patrol, the City of Fond du Lac Police Department assisted in the pursuit, and the city of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue assisted at the scene.
