    Things to do this weekend in Fond du Lac include free Lou Gramm concert, Cars on the Island and more

    FOND DU LAC - From live music to fundraisers to a bicycling event, there's something for all tastes coming up this week in the Fond du Lac area.

    Co-founder and lead singer of Foreigner, Lou Gramm, will appear at Thelma while Kate Voss headlines this week's Buttermilk Festival concert.

    Other events include two fundraisers for Big Brothers Big Sisters — a car show and their annual gala.

    Thelma brings Lou Gramm to Fond du Lac for free concert

    Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts will present Lou Gramm: the Original Voice of Foreigner, on the outdoor stage July 27. The show will start at 7 p.m. at Thelma, 51 Sheboygan St.

    Gramm continues to tour with his band, performing many of his old Foreigner hits. In May 2013, Triumph Books released Gramm’s autobiography "Juke Box Hero: My Five Decades in Rock ‘n’ Roll."

    The concert is free and open to the public, though VIP tickets will be available for $50. The VIP section includes portable bathroom access and its own cash bar. Chairs are not permitted in the VIP section. Member discounts will not be available for the VIP tickets for these events, as they are fundraisers. Purchase VIP tickets at thelmaarts.org .

    Cars on the Island to benefit BBBS of Fond du Lac

    The Cars on the Island event, to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County , will be held 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 28 at Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac.

    All makes, models and years are welcome. Entry fee is $5. Admission is free for spectators, though donations to BBBS will be accepted.

    The event includes music, food, refreshments, 50/50 raffles and registered vehicles have a chance to win cash prizes. Other prizes awarded throughout the day (must be present to win).

    Fond du Lac Cyclery hosts bicycling event July 28

    Fond du Lac Cyclery will host the second annual Great Bike Get-Together 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 28. The ride leaves at 10 a.m. from Fond du Lac Cyclery, 209 S. Main St., meeting at Keikhaefer Park, W4235 Kiekhaefer Parkway, at around 11 a.m.

    Drop by the park anytime between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. There will be food available to purchase and MTB demonstrations.

    There is no fee to participate, but an RSVP is appreciated. Helmet and signed waiver required. For waiver or to RSVP, visit fdlcyclery.com .

    Kate Voss is next featured performer of Buttermilk Festival series

    Kate Voss and the Hot Sauce will play the July 31 Buttermilk Festival concert. Music begins at 7:15 at Buttermilk Creek Park, 700 S. Park Ave.

    Kate Voss and the Hot Sauce covers everything from blues to rockabilly to Western swing; from Brenda Lee and Nancy Sinatra to Buddy Holly and Ray Charles.

    In the event of rain, the concert will be moved to the Fond du Lac County fairgrounds.

    The BIG Event fundraising gala to be held Aug. 1

    The The BIG Event, the annual fundraising gala for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County , will take place 5 to 9 p.m. Aug. 1. It will be held at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center, 625 W. Rolling Meadows Drive.

    Included will be local celebrity mixologists, live and silent auctions, the Big of the Year award, recognition of graduating matches and more.

    Tickets are $150 per person. Individual tickets include one dinner, and a table reservation includes eight dinners.

    Those who can’t make it to the dinner are invited to participate in the online silent auction. Bidding is open now through 7:25 p.m. Aug. 1.

    Funds raised help enroll children in the program, connect matches with activities, train new volunteers and maintain monthly match support check-ins, to name just a few.
