FBI: One person dead after officer-involved shooting in Cherokee
CHEROKEE, N.C. (WLOS) — The FBI confirmed to News 13 on July 2 that there was an officer-involved shooting that resulted in a fatality on July 1 in Cherokee. The FBI said it is currently investigating the incident that was reported to have happened during an attempted traffic stop along U.S. 19 near the Swain County line in the nighttime hours of July 1.

The event, attended by Harrah’s Cherokee leadership, dignitaries from the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and construction team members, provided an opportunity to celebrate the project’s progress and recognize the collaborative effort of those who have dedicated their time to aid in the project’s development. As someone who has been dining in Gatlinburg for more than 30 years, ranking best and worst is somewhat difficult. First, there aren’t THAT many worsts. In honest the floor for Gatlinburg dining to me is OK or average. The number of bad meals is pretty low. But even harder than that is characterizing the best.
