The EA evaluates the construction of nine miles of new parkway from Wears Valley to the Gatlinburg Spur near Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, Tenn.

Alcoa, TDOT hosting public meeting on Hall Road study
The Tennessee Department of Transportation and city of Alcoa will host a public information meeting seeking input on the Hall Road Corridor Study Tuesday, July 30. The meeting will present preliminary traffic and safety findings and seek public input for the corridor. The meeting will be from 5-7 p.m. at the city of Alcoa service center, 725 Universal Street, Alcoa. It will be an open house with a formal presentation starting at 5:30 p.m. The public will have the opportunity to give feedback through mapping exercises after the presentation. The goal of this project, according to a release from the city of Alcoa, is to address the overall traffic and safety concerns along the 1.9-mile section of Hall Road between Associates Boulevard and the Alcoa/Maryville city limit. APD sting identifies two potential human trafficking victims, seven others charged
The Alcoa Police Department has confirmed that seven arrests made between July 19 and 20 were the result of a sting operation. A total of nine people were identified engaging in prostitution during the operation, two of whom detectives determined may be human trafficking victims. APD Chief David Carswell confirmed in a phone interview that at least four individuals had been arrested during the two-day operation. John (Johnny) Marcus Doan, age 53, of Maryville, TN, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 19, 2024, with his loving wife, Heather Rusch Doan, by his side. Originally from Asheville, NC, Johnny moved to TN when he married Heather, August 4, 2018, and enjoyed his life in the Foothills of the Smoky Mountains with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff David and Katrinka Webb Doan of Asheville and his son, Dalton Doan also of Asheville.

Chase deepens its footprint into East Tennessee opening more full-service branches
Chase Bank announced in February it planned to open 500 new branches nationwide and hire 3,500 employees over the next three years, including deeper into Tennessee. Following the expansion in the Nashville and Memphis markets and one branch near Knoxville, Chase will open five to six more branches in East Tennessee by the end of 2026. The 11242 Kingston Pike branch in Farragut opened in April and another branch at 503 Foothills Plaza in Maryville opened in May.
