Alliance, NE – The final day for swimming at Big Blue Bay will be Wednesday, August 14, 2024. Due to limited staff availability, the pool will reduce daily hours but be open as much as possible for lap swim and open swim. The schedule for the final weeks at the pool are as follows:

PILGER - A Stanton resident was seriously hurt after falling between 25 and 30 feet at a worksite in Pilger yesterday (Wednesday) morning. The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident at the Pilger Co-Op around 10:40 a.m. The 52-year-old employee was trying to clean a vent at the top of the roof when he lost his balance and slid down the north edge and fell to the ground.

Pickup goes out-of-control on Perkins Street, missing three people at picnic shelter
BEATRICE -- Beatrice Police and fire officials were sent to the scene of a bizarre accident just south of the downtown area. It happened when a roofing company pickup turning from South Fifth to travel east on Perkins went out of control. The truck ended up colliding with a picnic shelter at Gage County Foundation Park, narrowly missing three people sitting there. Police Sergeant Wes Henning says the accident involved a total of four vehicles.
