    $20

    $14

If you’ve ever had leftover cheese that went bad quickly, then you may be storing it wrong. “You want it to breathe, which is why beeswax wraps work really well, because cheese is alive,” Berry said. With over 5,700 five-star ratings, this assorted 3-pack (small, medium, and large) is all-natural, reusable, and washable.

Prodyne CK-300 Multi-Use Cheese Fruit and Veggie Knife

    Amazon

    $13

    $12

Soft to medium cheeses can be tough to slice — brie, camembert, etc. — due to their stickiness. That’s why this $12 stainless steel cheese knife with an open surface blade may make your life easier, Berry says. (It also happens to be our top pick from our cheese knife test .) If you’re on the hunt for a slightly cheaper option, then you can also opt for this $8 all-purpose cheese knife with round holes.

    John Boos Wooden Cutting Board

    Amazon

    $84

    $49

If you plan to set your cheeses out for guests to serve themselves, “I would definitely use some type of wooden board that has been food service-treated,” Berry explained. This John Boos wooden cutting board has built-in finger grips and rounded corners for easy use. (It’s also from the same series as our very favorite wooden cutting board .) To prevent ruining your board , make sure to season it with mineral oil first.

    Bssrc 4-Piece Cheese Knives Set

    Amazon

    $11

    $6

In order to be prepared to serve both hard and soft cheeses, Berry advises stocking up on different kitchen tools, like this 4-piece knife set. The spreading knife and narrow plane knife are intended for crumbly, soft cheeses. The mini spade knife is ideal for parmesan, while the mini fork is used for “chunky, harder cheeses” like gruyère — all you have to do is push the prongs into the cheese and twist for an aesthetic, rustic look.

    Rubbermaid Brilliance Food Storage Containers

    Amazon

    $40

    $29

Food containers can be an easier option when it comes to storing cheese, especially if you’re not a frequent cheese connoisseur. While Berry is against freezing cheese, she does advise placing it into a plastic container with a lid in the refrigerator. This set of five Rubbermaid containers and matching lids is currently on sale for under $30 28% off, leak-proof, and dishwasher-safe. They also made our list of the top food storage containers as the best value plastic containers we tested, impressing us with the secure snap-on lids and their stain- and odor-resistance.

    Formaticum Cheese Storage Bags

    Amazon

    $20

While not currently on sale, these cheese storage bags come highly recommended by Berry and other cheesemongers we've spoken to. The 9- x 14-inch reusable sheets come in a set of 10 and are ideal for storing leftover charcuterie foods, cheeses, and sandwiches. The storage bags are made from plastic material that aids in regulating air and moisture surrounding the cheese. Plus, they’re designed to be durable and used multiple times, so they’re the perfect investment for long-term use.

    Berry’s Cheese Pairing Recommendations

Of course, if you’re going to store or slice cheese, you’ll need to actually buy some cheese first. Berry shared a few delightful cheese pairings to give you inspiration for your next charcuterie board.

    • Sartori Espresso BellaVitano: Pumpkin spice lattes, mochas, chocolate-covered snacks, ground cardamom
    • Sartori Sarvecchio: toasted sesame seeds
    • Sartori Rosemary: candied yuzu peel
    • Pasture Pride Juusto: fresh thyme, maple syrup, black coffee, or wasa and gooseberry jam
    • Roth Havarti: caramel popcorn, Espelette pepper, salted Concord grape jam
    • Roth 3 Chile Gouda: use in any sauce for mac ‘n cheese, fondue, pasta, or holiday casserole
    • Pine River Cheese Spreads: Effie's Biscuits, Fortune Favors pecans, or flavored potato chips
