Free gas giveaway is back in Chicago this Thursday! But be prepared for long lines

    2022-03-23

Dr. Willie Wilson is giving away 1$ million worth of gas to Chicagoans this Thursday, March 24th.

(CHICAGO) Businessman Dr. Willie Wilson's gas giveaway caused a bit of chaos in Chicago last week. However, Wilson remained determined to make his free gas donation program a success.

“The need among the community is so great. Soaring gas prices have caused a hardship for too many of our citizens,” said Wilson in a statement posted on Twitter.

Thursday, March 24th, in Chicago and a few suburbs, residents can begin lining up to receive up to $50 worth of gas.

Wilson and his staff have teamed up with The Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) and the Chicago Police Department (CPD) to provide resources to ease traffic congestion and ensure public safety.

In the city, each car will receive a sticker indicating their place in line starting at 7 AM.

Wilson said he will offer free gas to drivers until all of his $1 million is spent. All vehicles must present a sticker to receive the free gas. No gas can or containers will be allowed. Locations are expecting to get up to 400 cars over four to five hours.

Wilson has posted a complete list of participating organizations as of March 22 on Twitter.
