Kids gain life skills while learning to cook at Little Kitchen Academy

    2022-04-19

A children's cooking academy is headed to Chicagoland with 3 locations set to launch in Chicago, Naperville, and Plainfield.

Little Kitchen Acadamy (LKA) is coming to the Chicago region, bringing its Montessori-inspired cooking classes to children aged three through teens. KLA teaches children life skills, independence, and how to eat healthy from scratch to consumption.

The locations will be in Chicago, Naperville, and Plainfield, with the Naperville site the first to open and will begin offering classes this fall. You can sign up for email updates here.

"I am so excited to bring the gift of Little Kitchen Academy to Illinois," said Randall Barba, franchise partner for LKA Chicago, LKA Naperville, and LKA Plainfield in a recent press release. "Teaching children practical life skills is not just good business, it's an important part of creating a better future for them. I know that by sharing the gift of Little Kitchen Academy with families in Illinois, we will help children in our community develop their independence, both inside and outside of the kitchen."

Barba is also the owner and operator of six Goldfish Swim Schools, including locations in Naperville and Plainfield.

The KLA curriculum is based on age, from three-year-olds up to teenagers. At each stage, the kids begin by changing into their chef's coats and prepping their areas.

Little ones learn to set a community table and practice table manners while they get to eat the fruits of their labor. Teenagers can take advantage of Friday night sessions as they hang out with friends, get trained on safely handling kitchen equipment, and learn how to become more independent in their kitchens at home.

You can find out the details for each age group here.

Brian Curin, the co-founder/co-CEO, and president of Little Kitchen Academy is excited to bring his business venture to the Midwest. "We are delighted to have such passionate and like-minded partners to share Little Kitchen Academy with the communities throughout Illinois," said Curin. "Not only is Chicago an important place to me, having grown up in the area, but it is also an important market that continues our expansion throughout the Midwest. With Randall and his team's incredible experience, we know they are the right people to bring LKA to families throughout the Greater Chicago Area!"
