(CHICAGO) For the last two years, the celebration for the kick-off weekend into summer where we honor those who have died serving in the U.S. armed forces has been subdued. But this year, the city is open with no restrictions.

Here's what's going on this Memorial Day weekend in Chicago

1: Watch the Memorial Day Parade on Monday

The day begins at 11 AM on Monday, with a wreath-laying ceremony at Richard J. Daley Center Plaza, and the parade starts at noon. It will go along State Street until Lake Street and continue to Van Buren Street.

2: See the Navy Pier fireworks display Saturday night

Navy Pier will have fireworks all summer on Saturdays. The first summer firework show will be 10 PM this Saturday, May 28. From there, shows will run every Wednesday at 9 PM and Saturdays at 10 PM until Labor Day.

3: Hit the Chicago beaches for a swim

Beach season begins on Friday, May 27. Swimming is allowed from 11 AM to 7 PM when lifeguards are on duty. Check with the Chicago Park District before heading out for up-to-date swimming conditions.

4 Ride a bike along the Lakefront

Taking a bike along the 18-mile-long Lakefront Trail gives you the perfect view of Lake Michigan. If you don't have a bike, you can rent one from one of the many bike rental companies, such as Divvy Bikes, Bike and Roll Chicago, or 3rd Coast Cycles.

    5: Sueños Chicago Music Festival

This is the first year of the Sueños Music Festival. On Saturday, May 28th, and Sunday, May 29th, over 15 Reggaeton, and Latin Artists will hit the stage. The festival will also feature art installations, a Ferris wheel, multiple bars, and local Latin food. 2-Day General Admission passes are still available starting at $275 plus fees.

6: Pixar Putt at Navy Pier

Opening on Saturday, May 28th, and running through August 21st, the miniature golf course at Navy Pier will be open seven days a week. It's a family-fun event for Disney and Pixar fans with 18 holes inspired by movies such as Toy Story, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, A Bug's Life, Wall-E, and more. Adults 18 and over can check out Pixar Putt After Dark.

7: Have a drink on a rooftop bar
