(CHICAGO) Krema Coffee House, located in the downtown area of the southern suburb of Plainfield, is celebrating Pride Month this June with its all-new cold brew coffee drink, the Chromatica Cold Brew.

Buy a Chromatica Cold Brew in June, and $1 will go to the Plainfield Pride organization.

Krema posted the following on the restaurant's Facebook page,

"Introducing A NEW Cold Brew. This drink is called Chromatica Cold Brew which is our house cold brew topped with birthday cake cold brew cream!" The post continued, "Also, when you purchase this drink, $1 from each drink will be donated to Plainfield Pride Coalition for Pride Month."

Krema Coffee House is located at 24038 W Lockport Street in Plainfield.

    About the drink

Cold brew coffee, a perfect choice for summer, is made by steeping ground coffee in room-temperature water, usually overnight, and then straining out the grounds and serving it over ice.

Fans of cold brew say the drink is smoother, milder, and less acidic than coffee brewed the traditional way.

Krema's Chromatica Cold Brew is then topped with a sweet, birthday-cake flavored cream and rainbow sprinkles.

What does the word Chromatica mean?

It's a term coined by Lady Gaga and is the title of her 2020 album. According to an interview, Gaga gave to Zane Lowe of Apple Music, Chromatica is, "inclusivity and life and also a lot of what we see around us."

"We’re being inclusive with all the colors, all the people,” and when I say, “All the colors, all the people,” I mean way more than we could possibly fathom."

She also said, "I think that everyone on any given day is doing the absolute best that they can do, and this is my perspective."

You can watch the full interview here.

Why is Pride Month held in June?

Pride Month is when the world's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) communities celebrate the freedoms they have to be themselves. The first Pride March was on June 28, 1970, one year after the Stonewall Uprising.
