Haunted car wash: TikTok video gives a sneak peek of this suburban Chicago's "Tunnel of Terror'

A spooky car wash has become an annual event for Tommy's Express in suburban Orland Park.

(CHICAGO) Forget haunted hayrides and haunted houses, this is the ultimate experience in Halloween multi-tasking. If you're short on time and need to get your Halloween scare on while you clean your car, Tommy's Express in Orland Park has you covered.

The southwest suburban car wash is presenting the "Tower of Terror" this October 28th to October 30th from 6 to 10 PM.

According to the company's website, "This October, head to your closest Tommy’s Express for a haunted car wash that will scare the socks off your entire vehicle. It started as fun for one, and Tunnel of Terror is now an annual event for many Tommy’s Express locations. Prepare for the scare in a tunnel unlike no other!"

What to expect?

Photos from the website show a scary clown, fog machines, eerie lights, and animatronics. You can even watch a sneak peek of the event on TikTok. In the video, you can see strobe lights, scary characters in costume, and creepy dolls on display.

Where is it located?

Tommy's Express Car Wash, based in Michigan, has over 130 locations around the country, and many of them will turn into spooky tunnels this Halloween season. You can check here for participating locations.

Chris Kantzioris, general manager of the Orland Park location told WGN9 Chicago that each car wash location is a unique experience.

The only Tommy's Express in Illinois is located in suburban Orland Park at 15189 Wolf Road. Orland Park is about a 45-minute drive southwest of Chicago.

Is it kid friendly?

It probably depends on your kid. According to a comment on the company's Facebook post, the folks at Tommy's Express recommend parents watch their TikTok video of the spooky scene first to decide for themselves if their kids can handle the scare.

In good news for the planet, Tommy's Express is environmentally friendly, using low energy and reclaimed water. According to their website, each location uses less than 30 gallons of fresh water per vehicle.
