Have you tried Portillo's new fully loaded Rodeo Burger?

Just in time for summer, Portillo's released its version of the Rodeo Burger with new "crispier" bacon.

(CHICAGO) Portillo's announced a new menu item earlier this month. Rather than the usual Chicago-style items, this burger is influenced by Western cuisine.

The Rodeo Burger features the iconic 1/3-pound char-broiled burger topped with bacon, red onions, onion rings, melted cheese, and a tangy barbeque sauce. All of this is sandwiched between a Brioche bun.

“Who doesn’t love bacon? We already had good bacon, but now it’s even better,” said Garrett Kern, Portillo’s VP of Strategy and Culinary said in a press release. “We’ve also got one of the best burgers out there. Top it with our own barbecue sauce, our amazing onion rings, and this delicious new bacon. Our team members already love it and can’t wait for both our loyal fans and new guests to rush in and try it.”

Because, why not, Portillo's took its new menu offering to the small town of Bacon, Indiana, where the company threw the town a Bacon Rodeo.

You can check the video out here. According to Portillo's, it was a resounding success. So much so that Portillo's was awarded an honorary key to the city.

You can order the Rodeo Burger for $8.39, or the Double Rodeo Burger for $11.39, at all Portillo's restaurants in Chicagoland and its other locations.

It's not a health food

Obviously, nobody is ordering a burger topped with bacon and onion rings for their health. But let's take a look at how this burger stacks up nutrition-wise to the standard burger on the menu.

Single Rodeo Burger

Single Hamburger

• Calories: 570

Add a small french fry (380 calories) to your single rodeo burger, and you will end up with a whopping 1,170 calories and 53 grams of fat.

Are Portillo's burgers overlooked?

People tend to think of Portillo's for Chicago-style hotdogs and Italian Beef sandwiches, but some are big fans of their hamburgers. One Reddit user posted, "Maybe I’m in the minority but I still think their cheeseburgers are damn good. And I’m a born and raised Chicagoan." While another user stated, "Truthfully, not many places do a better burger."
