(CHICAGO) Select Cut Steakhouse is closing after nearly 30 years in business. Located at 2808 N Halsted Street, the restaurant is known for its casual atmosphere with a traditional menu featuring steaks, ribs, seafood, and burgers.

Here is the announcement on Select Cuts Steakhouse's Instagram page:

"After almost 30 years Select Cut will be closing by the end of July! We just want to thank all of our customers for your support throughout the years and especially for the amazing friendships we’ve made! We will always cherish the great memories of all of you and your families!! We were lucky enough to have been able to have our daughters work with us and you became an important part of their lives as well! It’s bittersweet to say the least, but we’re excited to see what the next chapter brings! There’s still time to come see us either at the restaurant or at Burger Fest July 19-21!"

Select Cut opened in the Lakeview neighborhood in Chicago in 1994. Although the owners have not provided a reason for closing, the steakhouse has been facing competition from nearby Butcher and the Bear, which opened this January.

Butcher and the Bear, located at 2721 N. Halsted Street, is run by the owners of Lincoln Park’s Sapori Trattoria.

Select Cut will be open until July 31st and is celebrating Burger Fest this weekend (July 19th to 21st.)
