Whip Up Fresh, Creamy Ice Cream Without an Ice Cream Maker

Use your food processor to make homemade, no-churn strawberry ice cream.

You don't need an ice cream maker to whip up a delicious batch of fresh homemade ice cream. The recipe below is for strawberry ice cream, but you can make it any flavor or mix in any ingredients.

Try getting creative with mix-ins— fold in chocolate chips, crushed cookies, or swirls of caramel or fudge before freezing. Or make this using a different fruit such as mango or blueberry. This versatile recipe is perfect for experimenting with your favorite flavors. Or leave the strawberries out for a simple vanilla ice cream.

    Ingredients

    • 1 lb fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled and quartered (if using frozen - let thaw for 10 minutes)
    • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • pinch of salt
    • 2 cups heavy whipping cream

    Directions

    1. Add strawberries to a food processor and pulse until the chunks are pea-sized.

    2. Add the milk, vanilla, and pinch of salt and pulse until combined.

    3. Whip the heavy whipping cream in a mixer until stiff peaks form. (When you turn the whisk upside down the peaks should point straight up without falling down.)

    4. Fold the whipped cream into the strawberry mixture until combined.

    5. Pour into a chilled 9-by-5-by-3-inch loaf pan and put in the freezer overnight or at least six hours until frozen and scoopable.
