Don't Miss September's Supermoon and Partial Lunar Eclipse

How to see the last full moon of the summer plus some fall recipe ideas.

(CHICAGO) This month's full moon, known as the Harvest Moon or Corn Moon, is the last fall moon of summer. It's also a supermoon and a partial lunar eclipse will occur, making it a treat for sky watchers.

A supermoon happens when a full moon is closest to Earth, making the moon appear brighter and bigger in the sky. There are only three to four supermoons per year.

When to See the Harvest Moon?

The full moon this month will be at its biggest and brightest when it peaks on Tuesday, September 17th. However, the moon will appear full for a few days before and after Tuesday.

Be sure to look for the moon right after sunset as the full moon appears largest when it's still low on the horizon.

When To Watch the Partial Eclipse?

On Tuesday, September 17th at 7:41 PM a partial eclipse will begin. The peak will occur at 9:44 PM and the eclipse will be over by midnight. The moon will darken and become partially obscured.

Autumn Recipe Ideas to Celebrate Summer's Last Full Moon

The last full moon of summer is a great time to start thinking about cozy, fall recipes.

Break out the slow cooker and make pulled pork sandwiches, or try some pumpkin recipes such as this homemade pumpkin spice latte. Finally, a creamy and satisfying slow cooker potato soup is perfect for an autumn evening.
