This Small Town in California Has Been Named the Charming Small Beach City to Visit in the State

    2023-10-16

An article published by Travel.Alot.Com has identified a particular small town in California as one of the most charming small towns to visit in the United States.

The site compiled a list of the most charming towns in each state, and you may be surprised at what actually showed up!

Many of them are pretty artsy, but then we have some that honestly feel like a little part of Europe without ever having to leave America.

The findings are revealed, and the site has labeled Carmel, CA, as the Charming Small Town to Visit in California. Keep reading to learn more.

Carmel-by-the-Sea, often simply called Carmel, is a city in Monterey County, California, United States, founded in 1902 and incorporated on October 31, 1916. Situated on the Monterey Peninsula, Carmel is known for its natural scenery and rich artistic history.

As of the 2020 census, the town had a total population of 3,220, down from 3,722 at the 2010 census.

In 1906, the San Francisco Call devoted a full page to the "artists, writers and poets at Carmel-by-the-Sea", and in 1910 it reported that 60 percent of Carmel's houses were built by citizens who were "devoting their lives to work connected to the aesthetic arts."

Carmel by the Sea is a place to get away from it all without sacrificing the big-city offerings of art, theater, music, dining, shopping, spas, and more.

You can fine-dine at a number of four-star restaurants or eat al fresco at the beach.

You can collect art or just covet art and artifacts at almost 100 galleries and antique shops, and you can buy anything from trinkets to Tiffanys.

Even those who travel the world are unlikely to encounter another place that has so much to offer in one location.

My wife and I were married in Carmel on the beach in 2009. We have been back for every single anniversary since. That place never gets old.
