24/7 Wall Street has compiled a list of the unhealthiest cities based on factors such as the quality of the local healthcare system, public health policies, cultural aspects, environmental conditions, and the economic situation.

So, which city in Maryland takes the title of the unhealthiest? According to 24/7 Wall Street, that dubious honor goes to Hagerstown.

Hagerstown is a city in and the county seat of Washington County, Maryland, United States. The population was 43,527 at the 2020 census. Hagerstown ranks as Maryland's sixth-largest incorporated city and is the largest city in the Maryland Panhandle.

According to data, Hagerstown ranks just above the state average when it comes to unhealthy behaviors such as smoking (20.4% of the city's population) and adult obesity (37.7% of the city's population).

In addition to this, 6.8%year, of the population lives without health insurance or lives in fair or poor health.

This, combined with the fact that the median household income is only $42,965 a year, may contribute to poorer health outcomes for residents.
