    Maryland Faces Surge in Job Losses as Layoff Notices Increase

    Unfortunately, there are more layoffs in Maryland, with global pharmaceutical company Charles River Laboratories announcing more job cuts in the state last week.

    Under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN Act), Charles River Laboratories, a global pharmaceutical company, is closing its plant located at 15 Wormans Mill Court Suite 1 in Frederick, Maryland.

    As a result, 14 employees in the Frederick workforce zone will be affected by these layoffs. The company provided notification of the layoffs on March 14, 2024, with the actual layoff date scheduled for May 13, 2024.

    Maryland Job Cuts

    Earlier this month, Essendant Co. announced the closure of a plant in Anne Arundel, which will lead to 101 employees losing their jobs.
