Stay with F365 through a busy transfer deadline day...

Keep up to date with all the latest transfer rumours and done deals through to 11pm on Deadline Day. This one might not be s***.

Your complete list of all the summer’s Premier League transfers is here .

1:37am: There it is. Long-awaited confirmation of Raheem Sterling’s loan move from Chelsea to Arsenal is confirmed and it’s like an anti-Toney, isn’t it? Really shabbily treated by Chelsea, but is out of that toxic mess – for now at least – and hasn’t even had to step down to make it happen. Instead, a significant step up.

1:06am: Ivan Toney’s £40m move to Al-Ahli from Brentford is confirmed, and we can’t help but feel a bit sad about that.

12:03am: Odsonne Edouard’s loan from Palace to Leicester has been confirmed, reuniting him with Jordan Ayew.

Midnight falls: The wolves howl at the waning crescent of a moon, mourning its ongoing monthly diminution from its full, proud status to a dark, unforgiving void. A drunkard falls, unseen, into a canal, but survives his ordeal with little more than a wet red face.

Still we await news of Jadon Sancho and Raheem Sterling. Hurry up you pr***s.

11:58pm: “They haven’t helped Eddie at all. Failed him,” writes Alan Shearer on that awful site with all the posts, either referring to Newcastle’s situation or possibly commenting on his latest rewatch of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

11:40pm: There IS a deal sheet for Sterling’s loan move to Arsenal. Absolutely landed on his feet there if that gets done by the extended 1am deadline. Good for him.

Good ol’ Kaveh notes there is no obligation to buy for Arsenal.

11:34pm: The BBC write that there were a total of nine deal sheets submitted.

Hard to say how many of the deals that have been announced since 11pm fall into that category (they may have been completed before 11pm and then announced afterwards) – but they have reported that Sancho to Chelsea is one of them. Broja to Everton and Chalobah to Palace are two of the others. Sterling?

11:32pm: Jay Stansfield’s £10m-£15m move to League One Birmingham has been confirmed. Once again: absolute madness.

Conflicting reports on the fee. Sky Sports saying £12m, BBC £15m, Guardian £15m plus another £5m in add-ons. Either way, absolute madness.

11:27pm: And finally, Carlos Soler to West Ham has been confirmed. The midfielder joins on a season-long loan from PSG following Ward-Prowse’s departure for Forest.

Was that decided by a transfer committee or a Soler panel?

11:20pm: Sounds like Ivan Toney to Al-Ahli is effectively done, too. Brentford apparently just need one last little bit of paperwork signed; the Saudi side are in no great rush, though, as their transfer deadline is Monday.

11:19pm: Nayef Aguerd has completed a loan move from West Ham to Real Sociedad. We know, that’s the one you were all waiting for. You can go to bed now.

11:12pm: Armando Broja may now be going to Everton.

David Ornstein writes they have submitted a deal sheet for a loan with £30m obligation to buy – the very amount Ipswich turned their nose up at for the Chelsea forward.

11:09pm : Birmingham are hopeful they have secured Jay Stansfield for around £10m-£15m. That’s League One Birmingham City. Absolute madness.

11:09pm: Ipswich have had a frustrating day. They have been unable get a deal done for Broja from Chelsea, abandoning their efforts after Chelsea refused to budge on their fee despite him having an issue in his medical.

They then moved for Reiss Nelson from Arsenal, but it now looks like he’s going to Fulham instead.

11:06pm: Tottenham have confirmed that Giovani Lo Celso has moved to Real Betis.

Spurs have cut their losses on the midfielder, who they signed from PSG for around £28m five years ago. He’s now been sold for a reported £3.5m plus add-ons.

11:04pm: Some of the balls that remain in the air, then: Sancho to Chelsea, Sterling to Arsenal, Chalobah to Palace, Ward-Prowse to Forest….

No, wait…JWP to Forest is a done deal. Season long loan confirmed.

11:00pm: And that’s it. The window’s shut. Though obviously it’s kinda meaningless to those moves that are on deal sheets.

10:59pm: Forest have done a signing, of course. Defender Morato has joined from Benfica.

Mason Holgate has meanwhile moved on loan from Everton to West Brom.

10:57pm: Raheem Sterling has arrived at Arsenal to finalise his loan move. Bar some mad last-minute hitch, that should go through.

All looking good for Sancho to arrive and Chalobah to depart, but both likely to be announced past the 11pm deadline with the relevant extensions.

10:47pm: Eddie Nketiah to Palace has been confirmed. Something like £30m.

They’re still on with Trevoh Chalobah on loan, having already signed Maxence Lacroix and kept Marc Guehi. A good day for the Eagles.

10:44pm: Wilfried Zaha has joined Lyon and looks absolutely delighted about it.

10:43pm: There’s a fella on SSN who keeps banging on about deal sheets, which allow clubs an extension until 1am.

“They may need a deal sheet, they may not, we’ll have to wait and find out.”

    Who gives a s*** pal?

10:42pm: Chelsea have apparently finally given up on Victor Osimhen.

Kaveh Solhekol reports that Chelsea made one entreaty to try and secure him but have not heard back, and now do not expect to.

    Ghosted.

10:32pm: And now Andre is confirmed at Wolves. The Brazilian midfielder has joined from Fluminense for £21.8m.

10:19pm: Gilly Bilmour’s move to Napoli is done. An initial £11m. Fair.

10:11pm: Sterling’s move to Arsenal is ‘very very close’, apparently.

Journalist Ben Jacobs claims that the fee United and Chelsea have agreed on the obligation to buy Sancho is £25m. Bargain or stupidity? Time will tell.

10:07pm: Interesting stuff from Kaveh, who contradicts Sky Italia’s claims that Osimhen won’t be going anywhere.

He says that his information is that a move to Saudi Arabia may still be on the cards for the Napoli striker.

What does that mean for Ivan Toney? That’s the question we’re all asking.

The Saudi transfer window doesn’t close till Monday, so neither needs to get done tonight.

10:02pm: We might finally have some movement on Jadon Sancho: Jacob Steinberg writes that terms have been agreed on a loan away from Manchester United with an obligation for Chelsea to buy.

They’ve got just under and hour to get it done.

9:54pm: Southampton have confirmed Ryan Fraser has returned on a two-year deal after being given his release by Newcastle earlier this evening.

The winger spent last season on loan at St Mary’s, helping them win promotion to the Premier League.

9:49pm: Sky Italia are meanwhile reporting that Victor Osimhen is going nowhere. Yes, think we’d worked that out.

Amazingly, Antonio Conte admits he has no idea what he’ll do with Osimhen now they’ve signed Romelu Lukaku. Never change, Tony.

9:46pm: The Guardian write that Arsenal are ‘close to an agreement’ on Raheem Sterling, despite having driven a hard bargain on his wages.

Almost as if Chelsea are desperate to get rid and Sterling is desperate to leave as a result or something. Who can say.

9:42pm: Just to confirm, Ugarte won’t be eligible to play against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, having missed the midday registration cut-off.

9:33pm: Ah, there we go. Manchester United, you are officially not cowards (for the next five minutes).

Manuel Ugarte’s move from PSG has finally been completed. A suspiciously good signing who they will no doubt find a way to ruin somehow.

9:28pm: Complete some deals you cowards.

9:14pm: The Guardian write that West Ham are about ready to bring in midfielder Carlos Soler on loan from PSG…but only once one of their impending departures goes through.

If you’ve lost track, that’s Nayef Aguerd to Real Sociedad, James Ward-Prowse to Forest, Kurt Zouma to Saudi Arabia in the most Saudi Arabia signing imaginable, and Maxwel Cornet to Southampton.

9:08pm: Earlier reports were that Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson was talking to some unnamed Premier League clubs (by which we mean ‘unidentified’ – all the clubs have names).

Ipswich are now being named as one of those clubs. Have they given up on Armando Broja with negotiations with Chelsea stalling, or is that plan B?

The Athletic suggest that a loan move is ‘close’, so probably the former.

9:04pm: Neto has completed his loan move to Arsenal, by the way. The Bournemouthy goalkeepery one, not the Chelsea winger. Scandinavian for value either way.

Arsenal and Chelsea still chatting over that Raheem Sterling loan.

8:56pm: Apparently you can ‘smell Clinton Morrison’s aftershave a mile off’, which we now realise we had always subsconsciously assumed.

Footballers do tend to smell nice, if you’ve never had the pleasure of meeting them. Especially Trevoh Chalobah, who we’ve met a few times and always wanted to give him a lick. Some kind of mango-y body cream, we think.

8:54pm: 18-year-old left-back Jayden Meghoma has completed his move from Southampton to Brentford in a deal apparently worth around £10m, all in.

That doesn’t help Southampton make any room in their squad, though, since under-21s don’t count towards the 25-man squad anyway.

8:49pm: Do us a favour. Go to the window, or step out the door, until you find an adult male aged between 18 and 24.

There’s approximately a 78% chance that person is on loan from Brighton. They’ve done five loans out just today, taking them into double figures.

8:38pm: We’ve got no horse in the race, but Raheem Sterling really would look smashing in an Arsenal kit, wouldn’t he?

8:35pm: Oh god, SSN are talking about deal sheets.

    You’re discussing admin, lads.

8:34pm: Fabrizio Romano claims that Raheem Sterling is happy with the personal terms Arsenal have offered and ‘wants the move’. Well, yes, obviously, Fabby.

Now it’s just down to the two clubs to agree terms. Sky Sports add that things are ‘advancing positively’, which is much less fun than if they had been advancing, but negatively.

8.24pm: Nottingham Forest want to sign everyone, as is their custom. The floodlights are on at the City Ground for any publicity shots that might be necessary, Sky Sports News breathlessly report, Morato is in the building to complete his move from Benfica and there could be more to follow.

8.17pm: Don’t think the Osimhen news was particularly groundbreaking anyway.

8.15pm: Kaveh said some stuff about Victor Osimhen but we weren’t really concentrating. He could have just stayed in the office and saved so much faff.

8.06pm: Kaveh Solhekol is chatting about Raheem Sterling on SSN. He’s stood outside Stamford Bridge but is so weirdly backlit that he looks like he’s in front of a green screen. More on that as we get it.

8.02pm: Napoli pipe up on the Elon Hellsite to confirm the signing of Scott McTominay from Manchester United. Fee is apparently £25m plus some add-ons.

7:57pm: Ornstein pops up to tease a bit of Sterling-to-Arsenal excitement, which would certainly help us all get through the next few hours.

“ Arsenal in talks with Chelsea to sign Raheem Sterling before transfer window closes. #AFC now actively working on move for 29yo #CFC attacker. If deal struck, personal terms would still need to be agreed; no issue expected.”

Be nice for him, that, wouldn’t it? But, full disclosure, it would quite significantly mess up the bit we’ve got for Winners & Losers and thus very, very selfishly hope it falls through.

    7:47pm: …and another centre-back for Palace, potentially.

The Eagles have reached an agreement with Chelsea to loan Trevoh Chalobah, who is now heading for a medical.

David Ornstein writes there is no obligation to buy, but that Palace will pay Chelsea an undisclosed loan fee as part of the deal.

7:38pm: Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Maxence Lacroix from Wolfsburg for a reported £18m including add-ons etc.

The 24-year-old centre-back was a regular in the Bundesliga last season, and helps cover for the loss of Joachim Andersen to Fulham.

7:21pm: Ryan Fraser is apparently keen on a move to Southampton, as part of which he would be given a mutual termination of his contract with Newcastle.

That means Fraser would be a free agent and wouldn’t necessarily need to get done before 11pm.

Southampton may ideally need to move players out to make room in their 25-man squad for their new arrivals.

7:10pm: Manchester United have confirmed 18-year-old Sekou Kone’s arrival from Malian side Guidars. The youngster, who shone at last year’s U17s World Cup for a Mali side that reached the semi-finals, will start out in the United academy set-up.

7:09pm: Sky Sports News reckon Victor Osimhen to Chelsea is ‘unlikely’ as they are unwilling to meet his ~£300k/week wage demands – which would be met in Saudi Arabia.

It’s the same deal with Ivan Toney: Chelsea enquired and were happy with the terms, but the rival Saudi bid looks to have blown them out of the water.

As for Raheem Sterling…’touch and go as to whether he stays or goes’. Sounds like there’s no firm interest in him, basically.

6:56pm: It’s all gone quiet as those deals that are in motion continue to tick away in the background. A reminder of where we are, based on the past few hours’ news…

Ivan Toney has passed a medical ahead of a potential move to Saudi side Al-Ahli.

Jadon Sancho might go to Chelsea, but also, he might not? Raheem Sterling is going nowhere, as it stands.

Newcastle wanted Anthony Elanga but look to have been priced out by Nottingham Forest.

James Ward-Prowse looks set to join Forest on loan from West Ham, while Maxwel Cornet is looking at moving from West Ham to join Southampton on loan.

Ipswich are after Chelsea’s Armando Broja, but have been slightly put off by his current injury and want the terms of their deal with Chelsea to reflect that.

6:33pm: Everton have confirmed Orel Mangala has completed his move from Lyon.

The former Nottingham Forest midfielder arrives at Goodison Park on a season-long loan.

6:28pm: There is something still in the works for Manchester United, though; they’re still working on a deal to sign PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

The Guardian’s Jamie Jackson writes that United ‘expect’ to get it done before the 11pm deadline.

6:25pm: Could we be set for a boring final few hours of the window?

Steinberg now writes that United are in no rush to get rid of Sancho and are happy to hold onto him rather than give Chelsea a cut-price deal. Still nowt happening on Sterling.

Newcastle’s Elanga bid looks to be dead in the water; Forest just want too much money for him, turning down a Newcastle bid. So far the Magpies have declined to make an improved offer.

6:13pm: It’s officially deadline day: a few minutes ago, a Sky Sports News correspondent was approached from behind by a man holding what we can only describe as a stuffed toy in the shape of a willy.

Needless to say we cannot condone such childish behaviour. Nope.

6:05pm: Maxwel Cornet has travelled down to Southampton to discuss a loan move from West Ham.

And that may not be the end of the departures from the imaginatively-named London Stadium, alongside: Real Sociedad are said to be keen on taking defender Nayef Aguerd on loan.

5:46pm: The Guardian’s North East correspondent Louise Taylor believes that it could be ‘far too late’ in the window for Newcastle to make good on their desire to sign Anthony Elanga.

Taylor writes that it’s ‘odds against’ that the Forest winger will be heading to Tyneside.

5:44pm: Nottingham Forest’s Josh Bowler has joined Preston on loan. Still not played a game for Forest since his 2022 move. £2m well spent.

5:34pm: Stefan Bajcetic’s loan move from Liverpool to Red Bull Salzburg has been confirmed.

The midfielder will link back up with Jurgen Klopp’s former right-hand man Pep Lijnders, as well as former Liverpool youngster Bobby Clark, who moved permanently earlier this summer.

5:33pm: Wolves’ move for Fluminense’s Andre is expected to be announced, while Carlos Forbs’s £11m move is apparently progressing nicely. Daniel Podence looks to be off to Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, Championship Burnley have announced the arrival of Brighton forward Jeremy Sarmiento on a season-long loan. Exciting stuff.

5:21pm: Sancho to Chelsea in a loan with an obligation to buy is ‘increasingly likely’, according to the Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg. But, to reiterate, nothing doing with Sterling at the moment.

5:16pm: It’s now being claimed that Newcastle United are looking at a late move for Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga, with a £30m fee being touted for his services.

Newcastle have had a bit of a frustrating window so far, by Eddie Howe’s tacit admission, but talkSPORT say that things are ‘progressing quickly’.

5:05pm: Kaveh Solhekol says he has been told ‘not to rule out’ a Chelsea move for Toney, despite him going for a medical for a move to Saudi Arabia, especially as that medical is happening in central London.

We’re all still waiting to see what happens with Sancho and Sterling. Current reporting is that Sancho to Chelsea looks more likely than Sterling to Manchester United, but nothing agreed either way as yet.

4:54pm: Sky report that Forest are probably calling it quits on their pursuit of a striker after their efforts to sign Omar Marmoush deal fell through, but will be keeping ‘an open mind’.

James Ward-Prowse’s loan move from West Ham is expected to be announced any time now, though.

4:38pm: Fulham have confirmed that Kevin Mbabu has left for Danish side Midtjylland in a free transfer. No news yet on Kevin Eranu though.

4:34pm: Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna has openly acknowledged the club’s interest in Armando Broja – but the forward has an injury issue that has apparently led to it being on, then off, and now in a bit of limbo as they try to reach an appropriate arrangement with Chelsea.

Latte Lath will be staying at Middlesbrough, though, so no Ipswich move for him. Sky reports it’s Broja or nothing now for the Tractor Boys.

4:28pm: Belgium and Lyon midfielder Orel Mangala is reportedly on Merseyside for a medical at Everton.

There had been discussions about Mason Holgate going the other way, but that’s apparently now fallen apart. Championship side Sheffield United are now said to be in the frame for the former Barnsley centre-back.

4:24pm: Sky Sports News report that Neto’s move to Arsenal is progressing nicely – he’s in for a medical.

“They feel a good number two is what they need,” says their man on the ground. We’ve all been there.

4:22pm: Oliver Glasner has unveiled the ‘mission accomplished’ banner on board the USS Crystal Palace when it comes to holding onto Marc Guehi

He said at his press conference today: “It was never really in doubt. Congratulations to Crystal Palace, to the chairman, to the owners, that they didn’t give in. Especially after the transfer of Joachim Andersen, it was very important that Marc stays.

“Also thank you to Marc. We were always close and talking a lot. All of the rumours didn’t influence his performance, his mood, his professionalism. He always told me he is not pushing to leave Crystal Palace and for me that is the most important thing.”

    So eat that, Newcastle.

4:16pm: That footage of Ivan Toney on Sky Sports News being asked if he’s excited about potentially going to Saudi Arabia is hilarious, isn’t it? The face of a man who is worried he may not have another escape route

Meanwhile, Napoli are after a move to sign Billy Gilmour from Brighton. Still getting money from Chelsea then, potentially, even if indirectly.

3:57pm : Gary O’Neil does not fill us with Wolves optimism.

“As we progressed through the window we missed ones that we thought would help us for different reasons – sometimes financial, sometimes the fact they have gone before we were ready to do it. We weren’t able to do some bits we hoped we would and then the window became different for us towards the end. I did think the group needed some help from the outside and it didn’t go quite as we planned it to go so it falls on me to make sure we are still able to compete.”

Ooft. To be fair, a Wolves relegation was one of our kneejerk reactions

3:51pm : Wolves do love a late trolley dash. Andre has completed his medical and will complete his switch from Fluminense in due course.

3:48pm : Some more Ornstein has landed.

Chelsea ‘are expected to reach agreement’ to sign Jadon Sancho from Manchester United. Juventus were interested at one stage but the forward finds the idea of moving back to London appealing.

It is not made expressly clear whether it would be permanent, a loan or a loan with an obligation to buy. Chelsea probably neither know nor care. Enzo Maresca will have to accommodate training an extra player – and the Blues are still pursuing Victor Osimhen.

3:43pm : Enzo Barrenechea has joined Valencia on loan, meaning both the players Aston Villa signed from Juventus in definitely separate deals to the one which saw Douglas Luiz move to Turin have now been sent elsewhere.

3:38pm : Perhaps the least heralded of all those poor Chelsea outcasts is Trevor Chalobah, whose fate seems to have just been weirdly accepting despite him being a really good and quite experienced centre-half.

Crystal Palace have been loosely linked all summer and Sky Sports suggest that they are still weighing their options up. While Marc Guehi is staying, the injury to Chadi Riad has changed things and Chelsea would surely be eager to offload Chalobah in any way they can.

A loan makes the most sense for all parties.

3:35pm : Miguel Delaney says that Arsenal have ‘passed on’ the opportunities to take Kingsley Coman or Raheem Sterling off Bayern Munich or Chelsea’s respective hands. Sensible but boring.

3:31pm : Djordje Petrovic has joined Strasbourg on loan from Chelsea. Must have been some tough negotiations, those.

3:17pm : Wolves might be operating on the tightest of budgets – not that spending £10m on Sam Johnstone seems particularly stingy – but they are pushing ahead in their pursuit of Carlos Forbs.

He was one of the finest examples of the Manchester City cheat code . Forbs has been pretty dreadful in the Netherlands since joining Ajax for £12m, yet it seems likely they will want to at least make their money back.

3:06pm : A couple of interesting lines, with Ben Doak headed to Middlesbrough on loan from Liverpool and Matt Turner making a similar switch to Crystal Palace. There is a lovely goalkeeper merry-go-round taking place in the Premier League mid-table.

Oh and Ipswich seem to be deciding between signing £20m-rated Boro striker Emmanuel Latte Lath or Chelsea outcast Armando Broja, who Leicester are sniffing around.

2:59pm : Neto has received the full Here We Go! treatment. That is presumably a bigger moment than the move to Arsenal itself. What an honour.

2:50pm : There are plenty of noises again around Osimhen and Chelsea.

Chelsea have not given up on the Nigeria striker, but they have agreements with neither Napoli nor Osimhen. Al-Ahli obviously do, but it seems the player is waiting for Chelsea. Especially since the Saudi window remains open over the weekend, and Al-Ahli appear just as content to sign Ivan Toney instead.

It is also claimed that Osimhen could just as easily end up staying at Napoli. Wants to play with Scotty McT, obviously.

    2:45pm : Interesting from The Guardian ‘s Jacob Steinberg…

He says Man Utd have held talks with Chelsea this week over Carney Chukwuemeka, either as part of a deal for Jadon Sancho or a separate move. Discussions haven’t progressed, apparently. And West Ham were sniffing around the ex-Villa midfielder.

2:35pm : A couple of lines from Fabrizio Romano

Chelsea have apparently submitted an official offer for Jadon Sancho. It’s a loan bid, ‘similar to terms offered by Juventus but total package is higher’.

    Anyone?

Also, Antony won’t be joining Real Betis today because he wants to stay at United. We bet he f***ing does.

    2:20pm: Not much doing, TBPFHWY.

2:10pm: Ange Postecoglou was asked if Tottenham have finished their recruitment for this window…

“Yeah, I think so, unless something surprising jumps out. But I think that’s it for us.”

1:50pm: Good and bad news for Forest…

Benfica defender Morato is heading to Nottingham for a medical after a deal worth €15million plus add-ons was agreed.

But Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush won’t be arriving at the City Ground today after the clubs failed to arrange a deal. Forest are now looking at other strikers. Chop, chop.

1:35pm: Newcastle appear utterly drained by this transfer window…

1:30pm: Mikel Arteta has just revealed that new signing Mikel Merino will be out ‘for a few weeks’ with a shoulder injury sustained in his first training session.

The Spain midfielder may have ‘a small fracture’.

    Ah.

Arteta was also asked about possible late deals –  “Never rule anything out” – and Raheem Sterling: “I cannot talk about any player.”

1:20pm: Dan Ashworth says Manchester United have ‘a couple of conversations going on’ before the deadline…

    1:15pm: A possible exit from Liverpool…

Boro and Hull are both trying to borrow Ben Doak, with Liverpool and the winger deciding which club would be best for his development.

    1:10pm: Shenanigans at Ipswich…

Sky Sports News says a deal to sign Armando Broja could be back on, despite the Chelsea striker failing to pass a medical. Ipswich could yet take Broja despite knowing they might be without him for up to 12 weeks.

Ipswich are also said to be in for Boro striker Emmanuel Latte Lath.

12:55pm: Word from Paul Joyce at The Times says Chelsea have spoken to Everton about Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Apparently, DCL was available for around £25million, while Chelsea were keen to send David Datro Fofana to Goodison. But the Blues felt Calvert-Lewin, who is out-of-contract next summer, was overpriced while Everton didn’t fancy Fofana.

    No deal.

    12:45pm : Aaron Ramsdale is a Saint.

Southampton believe they have submitted the paperwork in time for the England goalkeeper to face Brentford this weekend but they await official confirmation.

12:20pm : Sofyan Amrabat was said to be keen to re-join Manchester United but he could end up facing the Red Devils in the Europa League.

Amrabat is on his way to Istanbul to finalise a deal to join Jose Mourinho and Fred at Fenerbahce.

11:55am: Five minutes until the deadline to register players for the weekend. No confirmation yet of Manuel Ugarte’s move to Manchester United yet, despite earlier confidence of getting the deal done in time for the Uruguay midfielder to face Liverpool on Sunday.

    11:50am : Very Brentford, this…

11:30am: The Independent reckons Chelsea still have hopes of signing both Victor Osimhen and Jadon Sancho today. But shifting Raheem Sterling is key. Whatever happens with Sterling, it is going to cost Chelsea, whether they pay him off or subsidise his wages to play elsewhere.

Sky Sports News reckons permanent and loan deals are still being discussed between Man Utd and Chelsea over Sancho and an agreement is edging closer.

11:20am : USA goalkeeper Matt Turner is currently heading from Nottingham Forest to London to sit on Crystal Palace’s bench. The Eagles are moving to replace Sam Johnstone who has joined Wolves for £10million on a four-year contract. Kudos to his agent.

11:10am: Jay Bothroyd is currently on SSN lauding Kylian Mbappe for turning down ‘generational wealth’ to instead go to Real Madrid. We reckon the Mbappes will be ok.

10:50: Bournemouth are shedding players, sending Daniel Jebbison to Watford for the season, while Chris Mepham is making the 350-mile trip to Sunderland before joining the Black Cats on loan.

10:45am : The latest whispers on Raheem Sterling…

It’s seemingly stay at Chelsea or join Arsenal. The two clubs are talking, with Sterling keen to stay in London.

10:40am: With Ward-Prowse out the door, West Ham have now agreed a deal in principle for PSG midfielder Carlos Soler.

The Spain international will move to the London Stadium on loan for the rest of the season, pending a medical and all that jazz.

10:30am: What’s the story, morning Orny?

Big Dave also says Forest and West Ham have a loan deal agreed for Ward-Prowse, who is now hurtling up the road to Nottingham for a medical. No option of obligation to buy.

10:25am : A couple of lines from Fabrizio Romano

Arsenal are discussing the prospect of signing Raheem Sterling after the Chelsea winger was offered to them again this morning.

And James Ward-Prowse to Forest on loan has been given the ‘Here we go’ treatment.

10:20am: If clubs want their Deadline Day signings to be available for the weekend, they need to get deals done by midday.

    Tick, tock…

    10:10am : We see you, Chelsea…

10:00am: We have transfers. Actual, completed transfers.

Sam Johnstone has left Crystal Palace to keep Wolves’ goal, with the Eagles banking £10million for the England keeper.

Everton have shifted Neal Maupay to Marseille, who will be obligated to buy the striker after an initial loan.

9:55am: As we all thought, Al-Ahli won’t sign both Osimhen and Toney. Sky Sports News says the Saudis don’t have the budget, nor do they have room for two more foreign players in their squad. And they don’t need two strikers.

You don’t have to be Mystic Meg to predict that Toney will end the day at Chelsea.

    9:45am : Birmingham aren’t messing about…

9:30am : Southampton boss Russell Martin on Aaron Ramsdale…

“He’s hungry to become England’s No.1 again. He brings experience, attitude and winning mentality. I think he’ll be great.”

Ramsdale will certainly be busy and visible at Saints. He admitted to struggles with concentration while playing for a dominant side like Arsenal, having earned his big move by keeping goal for Bournemouth and Sheffield United. Maybe being in the thick of it will help Ramsdale rediscover his best form.

9:20am : Sky Sports News and a few others are now running the Toney to Al-Ahli line too. We’re confused and amused.

Apparently, Toney is having a medical in London this morning. F***’s sake, Chelsea, do something.

9:15am: This is odd. A few sources, including The Mirror, are claiming Brentford have accepted a £40million offer from Al-Ahli for Ivan Toney.

Al-Ahli, of course, have also got a deal with Napoli for Victor Osimhen, who is due to have a medical with the Saudi club.

We assume timelines have got crossed somewhere because surely Al-Ahli won’t take both. But we also love the idea that Al-Ahli are buying all the strikers just to f*** with Chelsea.

9:00am: The Deadline Day morning lull is always A Thing. While agents and club execs pull up their business socks and scoff their power breakfasts, we tend to have a quiet period before the chaos really kicks off.

In the meantime, give the Mailbox a read and get ready for a Big Weekend .

8:40am: While Napoli wave off Osimhen, they’re looking to sign not one but two Scotland midfielders.

Scott McTominay is in Naples – the lucky sod – completing his move from Manchester United.

Napoli also hope to revive a move for Billy Gilmour. They will make another offer to Brighton today, but Matt O’Riley’s injury complicates matters.

That’s a lot of fair skin in the Neapolitan sun.

8:25am : The numbers behind Victor Osimhen’s switch to Saudi…

Napoli will bank £67million up front plus add-ons.

Osimhen will be paid £33.6milion per season. Roughly £600,000 a week. Tax free. For four years.

F*** a duck. Chelsea would have to offer a contract until the end of time to get near those figures and stay within PSR parameters.

Fabrizio Romano says there will be a release clause in his contract with Al-Ahli, so give it a year…

8:15am : Interesting, this… Sky Sports News says Nottingham Forest are looking to do a deal for James Ward-Prowse.

Southampton were keen to bring their former skipper back to St Mary’s on loan, but it seems Forest are offering cold, hard cash. Which would allow West Ham to revive a move for PSG’s Carlos Soler.

8:00am: Big news around Victor Osimhen…

Gianluca Di Marzio says the Nigeria striker is off to Al-Ahli for €80million plus add-ons. Which leaves Chelsea covered in custard.

“You can’t question his motives,” says one of the talking heads on Sky Sports News . You f***ing can.

Ivan Toney’s Friday morning just got more interesting…

7:45am : Nottingham Forest are looking for a goalkeeper. Of course they are. Forest are always looking for a goalkeeper.

Aaron Ramsdale apparently preferred Southampton, so Nuno has turned his attention to Caoimhin Kelleher.

The Athletic says Liverpool have rejected a cash-plus-player offer for the Republic of Ireland stopper. Forest slapped Matt Turner on the table but the package didn’t come close to the £25million to £30million the Reds are demanding.

7:40am : Arsenal still fancy a forward today, and The Independent reckons Raheem Sterling is possible target.

Arteta appreciates the 28-year-old having worked together at Manchester City. The main problem: Arsenal don’t want to pay any fee for Sterling.

Kingsley Coman is also a target, with the Bayern Munich winger keen to stay in Europe rather than take the Saudi coin.

7:35am : Tammy Abraham is on the move – but not back to England.

Romano says the ex-Chelsea striker is set to join AC Milan from Roma in exchange for Alexis Saelemaekers, with Roma also likely to bank €10million,

    Nice move for Abraham, that.

7:30am : Wilfried Zaha has been linked with a return to the Premier League, most notably with Palace or Leicester. But The Athletic reckons the winger is heading to Lyon on loan from Galatasaray.

7:20am: Jadon Sancho to Juventus is off, apparently.

The word according to Gianluca Di Marzio , Juve have walked away from the Man Utd winger. Sancho is said to prefer a move to Chelsea while United’s terms didn’t turn on the Old Lady so they have moved on to other targets.

    7:15am : The actual deadlines today…

11pm: England, Scotland, Italy and Spain
    10pm: France
    7pm: Germany
Those sneaky Saudis have given themselves an extra couple of days, until Monday September 2, to hoover up any talent left hanging.

7:10am: Latest on Victor Osimhen to Chelsea…

Apparently, a loan with an obligation to buy is agreeable between all parties, which would satisfy Chelsea’s accountants.

Al-Ahli have until Monday to get a deal done if Chelsea fail to do the business.

7:05am : One out of nowhere last night: Neto to Arsenal .

With Aaron Ramsdale seemingly on his way to Southampton, Mikel Arteta needs another keeper to sit on his bench. It seems Neto would prefer the plush perch at the Emirates, rather than Bournemouth, who have signed Kepa from Chelsea.

A deal has been agreed between Arsenal and Bournemouth, initially a loan with an option to buy, with Neto due in north London for a medical this morning.

Espanyol’s Joan Garcia was the hot favourite to replace Ramsdale but talks with Espanyol apparently hit a stumbling block due to the Spanish club’s refusal to budge on the €30million release clause. How very dare they.

7am: Good morning, you Deadline Day deviants. Put your transfers pants on and we’ll get summer deadline day 2024 started. It might be decent…

Who will be the main characters in today’s drama?

Obviously Chelsea will be heavily involved. They need to shift at least a few of their bomb squad, while trying to tease Victor Osimhen or Ivan Toney to Stamford Bridge. And perhaps Jadon Sancho. Who may or may not move in a twisted exchange-that’s-not-an-exchange-if-the-accountants-are-watching deal involving Manchester United , Raheem Sterling and/or Ben Chilwell.

United are almost certain to unveil Manuel Ugarte at some point today while waving off Scott McTominay to Napoli.

Arsenal are set to bid farewell to a couple of England internationals while dithering over the prospect of signing a winger .

Manchester City might just do something interesting around a striker, while Newcastle are waiting for Crystal Palace to stop being so annoyingly-stubborn over Marc Guehi . The Magpies need to do something because, as things stand, Eddie Howe’s squad is worse than it was a year ago.

Basically, most if not all Premier League clubs will be doing some business today. So stick with us through to the 11pm deadline and beyond while billion-pound operations do their transfer homework on the bus.
