Salehe Bembury Reveals Yet Another New Balance Sneaker Collaboration Is on the Way

While sneakerheads await the release of Salehe Bembury’s next New Balance collaboration , the designer has revealed yet another to come.

The Salehe Bembury x New Balance 991v2 comes dressed in purple and joins his 530 in the pipeline of forthcoming sneaker releases. Purple suede and mesh form the bulk of the shoe’s upper, with grey leather overlays on the toe cap and an orange leather mustache. Another pop of contrast comes from a green sockliner, as well as a blue tongue tag with Bembury’s name and a yellow block on the black outsole’s tongue.

New Balance just introduced the 991v2 nearly a year ago, and Stone Island was chosen to launch the first update to the nearly 25-year-old sneaker through a collaboration. Alterations to the sneaker’s appearance are subtle and favor streamlining, but the more significant change is the edition of more comfortable and modern FuelCell cushioning at full length.

Each colorway released thus far, including additional collaborations with Patta and Kith Women creative director Daniëlle Cathari , has featured premium Made in UK construction. Bembury’s 991v2 is likely to follow suit, even if the tongue branding doesn’t call it out.

On Thursday, Bembury gave out pairs of his unreleased 530 sneaker exclusively through an in-person event in Copenhagen. That sneaker doesn’t yet have a release date either, but it should drop before the 991v2.

Bembury also announced a new partnership with Puma last week in which he’ll design a new signature sneaker for the brand’s basketball division.

The Salehe Bembury x New Balance 991v2 doesn’t yet have a release date, but Footwear News will keep you abreast of any updates.
