New Balance Just Released the Perfect Sneakers for Fall

New Balance’s updated 991v2 sneaker is having quite the year.

After debuting in October 2023 via a Stone Island collaboration, the made-in-UK model has been a focus for the Boston-based sportswear company in 2024. It started the year with a matcha-toned collaboration courtesy of Danish designer Daniëlle Cathari . In August, New Balance launched a five-shoe “City Exclusives” pack with special regionally released colorways. And prior to a second collaboration with Stone Island and an expected project with Salehe Bembury , the sneaker has just arrived in a duo of autumn-appropriate looks which are surprisingly attainable — for now.

The New Balance 991v2 is now available in “Pinecone” brown and “Kombu Green” colorways. Blocked in mostly tonal, decidedly fall shades, the sneakers feature pigskin suede and mesh uppers and two-tone midsoles that are equipped with New Balance’s modern FuelCell cushioning. A tinge of “Smoked Pearl” cream fills in the back half of each shoe’s midsole, giving them a slightly vintage aesthetic.

Both styles are reminiscent of previous JJJJound x New Balance collaborations, including the coveted green 992 and Montreal-exclusive 990v3 . Despite their similarities, these newly released pairs can currently be had at a fraction of the price and without the hassle of trying to buy a limited-edition sneaker.

Aside from the ongoing 991v2 releases, other upcoming New Balance launches of note include a JJJJound x New Balance 993 , two Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 997s , and a performance sneaker collection with rapper Action Bronson .

Due to their made-in-UK nature, the New Balance 991v2 carries a premium retail price of $250. The brand’s England-made footwear often costs more in the US than its made-in-America or otherwise imported sneakers.

Both of these fall-ready styles are arriving now at select New Balance retailers and from the brand’s e-commerce store , but readers shouldn’t be surprised if sizes begin selling out as the temperatures continue to drop.
