The WNBA is nearing the end of an exciting season, with the New York Liberty currently leading the rankings with a 30-7 record. While the woman’s league has gained a new wave of fans, there has also been an increased interest in the players and what they wear on and off the court, as well what size shoe they wear.

With the playoffs commencing on Sept. 22, FN takes a look at a few of the league’s players — both active and retired — who have stood out on the court not only for their skills but for their footwear.

Breanna Stewart

Considered one of the greatest players in the league, Breanna Stewart works with stylist Courtney Mays to curate some of her impressive off-the-court looks. For Stewart’s recent cover story with FN , Mays revealed the WNBA star and Puma athlete’s shoe size.

“She is a men’s 12 . That impacts what’s available,” Mays said. “But what’s cool now is men’s shoes are becoming a bit gender-fluid, and the way we’re dressing is not determined by our gender, but by what’s cool. I love that she’s able to incorporate things that are traditionally menswear staples — a loafer, a derby, a Chelsea boot — on top of incorporating Puma.”

Brittney Griner

Wearing a men’s 17, Brittney Griner , who plays center for the Phoenix Mercury, understands the experience of having an above-average shoe size — but that doesn’t stop her from hitting the court ins stylish kicks. Matching the colors of her team, Griner played a game this month wearing a orange Nike sneakers with purple accents.

Dawn Staley

Retired NBA star and current University of South Carolina coach Dawn Staley revealed on X, formerly known as Twitter, in a playful interaction with A’ja Wilson that she wears a women’s 10 and men’s 8.5 shoe. Pictured above, she played for Team USA in the 2000 Sydney Olympics wearing red and white Nike sneakers.

Staley has been busy recently , having attended a Nike event during New York Fashion Week and then heading to the White House to meet with President Joe Biden and celebrate the University of South Carolina’s March Madness victory.

Sabrina Ionescu

New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu, formerly of the Oregon Ducks, landed a signature shoe with Nike in 2023, becoming the eighth WNBA player to do so. An interview with Andscape detailed the moment she first tried on the shoe in a size 12. “I was at a loss for words, looking at what was in front of me, and what this meant for me and generations to come and athletes that would be able to accomplish this,” Ionescu said. “It’s different seeing a shoe on a screen for the last two or three years and then finally opening up the box and seeing it in person.”

In 2023, she shared on social media that two pairs of her Sabrina 1s seemed to have been stolen from an arena while playing an away game. Her sneaker rack is not entirely empty, however, as the Sabrina 2 hit the market earlier this year.

Caitlin Clark

Caitlin Clark is 6 feet tall and one of the most promising stars in the WNBA. While she has not disclosed her exact shoe size as of yet, it has been reported that she wears a women’s 9 or 10. Clark has been signed to Nike since 2022, becoming one of the brand’s first NIL NCAA basketball players along with Bronny James, Haley Jones, DJ Wagner and Juju Watkins. So naturally, she wears Nike on the court.

Aliyah Boston

Aliyah Boston, who was drafted in 2023 as the number one pick to play for the Indiana Fever, revealed that she’s a size 12 during an interview with Andscape focused on her deal with Adidas . She wears vibrant, colorful sneakers on the court.
