Eva Mendes hosted an event for her new children’s book “Desi, Mami, And The Never-Ending Worries” at Union Square Play yesterday in New York. The children’s novel was released on Sept. 17, only a few days prior to her reading.

The “2 Fast 2 Furious” star dusted off a pair of archival Stella McCartney platform pumps for her romp in the city. Hailing from the brand’s 2012 runway offerings, the footwear pick featured glossy faux leather uppers in a deep burgundy hue embossed with textural crocodile print.

Sharp pointed toes gave way to contrasting thick white platform soles and 5.7-inch stiletto heels that lifted Mendes to new heights. The pump is certainly a product of its time with the addition of head-turning animal print and sky-high platform soles. Rounding out her look, she sported black hoop earrings that worked to contrast the brighter tones in her ensemble.

It only makes sense that Mendes is on a McCartney kick, given her recent affiliation with the brand. The thespian was recently the star of the British fashion house’s winter 2024 campaign accompanied by the tagline “It’s about f*cking time.” The collection is largely inspired by a custom tank top worn by Stella when Paul McCartney was inducted into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame in 1999.
