Nike SB Replicates the Most Iconic Air Max 97 for One of Its Newest Skate Shoes

The Nike SB Air Max Ishod, aka the Ishod 2, added Air cushioning in its debut earlier this year as a performance upgrade for Ishod Wair’s second signature model. Now, Wair’s silhouette is paying tribute to one of the most iconic Air Maxes of all time, the Air Max 97 “Silver Bullet.”

The Nike SB Ishod 2 “Silver Bullet” replicates the signature colorway for the 27-year-old sneaker. Silver mesh and metallic leather dress the entirety of the upper, while the midfoot Swoosh is rendered in red just like the Air Max 97. The homage to the classic then continues with a white midsole featuring a silver Air max bubble and sitting above a black outsole.

Nike made history with the Air Max 97 becoming the first sneaker to feature a visible full-length Air unit in the year that gives it its name. Just as memorable is the “Silver Bullet” colorway that rang in the model’s debut, as the metallic treatment was an outlier among the colors typically applied to sneakers at the time. Designer Christian Tresser took inspiration from the metallic finishes of mountain bikes for the arrangement, and a metallic gold edition soon followed.

The Nike SB Ishod 2 just made its debut in January, and the ’90s-inspired silhouette incorporates elements of both running and skate shoes. The shoe’s flexible vulcanized cupsole sole features Air Max cushioning at the heel, while the see-through mesh window at midfoot makes it super breathable.

A collaboration with Verdy saw the Ishod 2 take on the same fuzzy look as his SB Dunk Low, but it could be the “Silver Bullet” edition that proves to be the most sought-after early in its run.

The Nike SB Ishod 2 “Silver Bullet” doesn’t yet have a firm release date but is expected to release before the end of 2024. Pricing is set at $110, and this post will be updated when more information becomes available.
