Man accused of firing shots at neighbor’s home in NC

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) – A man is facing several charges after allegedly firing numerous rounds from a handgun outside an NC residence.

On June 28, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a shooting at Pine Knoll located off Hudlow Road in Forest City. Authorities were told an ‘upset neighbor’ identified as Carlos Hernandez-Gutierrez was shooting into a home.

911 dispatch told deputies they could hear shots being fired in the background during the call.

Law enforcement responded to the area and located Hernandez-Gutierrez’s car parked outside a home on Brookside Drive. The vehicle was unoccupied according to deputies.

Deputies evacuated residents from the area of the suspect’s last known whereabouts.

Authorities attempted numerous times to make contact with Hernandez-Gutierrez but failed.

Information obtained by residents led officials to find the suspect at a nearby home. A firearm was located during a search.

Hernandez-Gutierrez was taken into custody without incident.

Further into the investigation, deputies learned that the suspect had been fraudulently using an obtained social security number during his time in the United States.

He was charged with disorderly conduct, going armed to the terror of public, communicating threats, identity theft and three counts of alter title according to the sheriff’s office.

Hernandez-Gutierrez remains in custody at the Rutherford County Detention Center with no bond.
