Aloha man arrested for attempted murder in Hillsboro

An Aloha resident is in custody for attempted murder after allegedly shooting a man in Hillsboro.

Washington County Tactical Negotiations Team officers arrested 33-year-old David Nicholas Artmeladze around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, in a Target store parking lot at 11095 N.E. Evergreen Parkway.

Authorities accuse Artmeladze of shooting a man around 9:40 p.m. July 30 at the intersection of Northeast John Olsen Avenue and Northeast Von Neumann Drive. Officers found and rendered aid to the victim, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds and is currently recovering from his injuries.

The identity of the victim was not released.

During the arrest, police deployed “distractionary devices” — temporarily incapacitating the suspect through emitted light and sound.

Around 10 p.m. that same day, authorities served a search warrant on the suspect’s home in the area of Southwest 175th Avenue and Southwest Marty Lane.

Artmeladze was booked in the Washington County jail and currently faces charges of attempted murder, first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and felon in possession of a firearm.

The alleged offense would not be the first time Artmeladze has opened fire — in 2009, the then-18-year-old pleaded guilty to first-degree assault with a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon after shooting at a man at a Hillsboro MAX station, the Oregonian reported . No one was hit by gunfire during that incident.
