    Nancy Ann Dickey Barnes

    June 11, 1936 – July 6, 2024 - Nancy Ann Dickey Barnes was born June 11, 1936, in Gales Creek, Oregon, at the family farm. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Heisler and Blanche (Pizer) Heisler. She was raised and received her education in the Gales Creek community, before attending Forest Grove High School, having been a graduate of the high school class of 1954.

    She was united in marriage to Paul J. Dobyns in 1954 in Forest Grove. Following their marriage they made their home in the Forest Grove community. They later divorced.

    On September 14, 1976, Nancy was united in marriage to Jack P. Dickey in Reno, Nevada. Following their marriage they resided in the Forest Grove community, until 1984, when they moved to Ketchikan, Alaska. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, on June 30, 2004, after celebrating over twenty-seven years of marriage together. She returned to the Forest Grove community in March of 2005.

    Nancy was united in marriage to Donald T. Barnes on July 29, 2009, in Hillsboro, Oregon. Following their marriage they resided in the Hillsboro community for several years, until moving to the Jennings McCall Retirement Community in Forest Grove, where they were residents. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, on August 12, 2021, after celebrating over twelve years of marriage together.

    She had worked as a cashier for many years at Tradewell Grocery Store in Forest Grove. Later, she worked as an operations representative in the banking industry for many years, including Forest Grove National Bank. After moving to Ketchikan, she continued working in banking until her retirement.

    Among her special interests, Nancy enjoyed cooking, baking and eating out. Nancy also loved to travel, including several cruises as well as the occasional trip to Spirit Mountain. She also enjoyed an annual trip to the Oregon coast with her daughters and her close friends.

    Nancy was also preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Blanche Heisler; her son, Tommy Dobyns and her brothers, Donald (Hazel) and Lester (Erma) Heisler.

    Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Jim Rood, of Hillsboro, Oregon and Juli and Terry Peters, of Forest Grove, Oregon.

    Also surviving are her five grandchildren and their spouses, Jason and Hilary Rood, of Milwaukie, Oregon; Joe and Cia Rood, of Walla Walla, Washington; Kris Kruse and his fiancé’, Lea Croft, of Bend, Oregon; Jennifer and Omar De Leon, of Hillsboro, Oregon and Travis and Kyla Peters, of Glenwood, Oregon; her two great-granddaughters, Ariana and Emelia De Leon and several nieces and nephews.

    Nancy’s family would like to give a special thank you to the owners and caregivers at Silver Cloud II Adult Foster Home in Forest Grove. They made moms last year as comfortable as possible. They treated her with grace, dignity and humor during her dementia days.
