The owner of a Forest Grove roofing company, and two others, were killed in a plane crash earlier this month in Montana.

Donald Long Jr., 46, died Aug. 8 after a single-engine plane went down in a wooded area west of Augusta, Montana, according to the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Office, in Montana.

Long, who grew up in Yamhill and lived in Gaston, was the owner of Legacy Roofing, based in Forest Grove. In a post on the company's social media channels , the company said it would "continue the legacy" that Long started.

"Rest easy boss," the post read, accompanied by a photo of a rose over Long's company nametag.

According to KATU, the trio were flying to Montana to attend a rally of former President Donald Trump in Bozeman the following day.

Lewis & Clark County Sheriff/Coroner Leo Dutton said the plane, a Cessna 182, took off from Hillsboro's Twin Oaks Air Park and lost radar contact shortly at about 12:30 p.m., Aug. 8, east of Missoula. According to Dutton, the plane crashed in the Scapegoat Wilderness, a 240,000 acre forest west of Augusta, Montana.

The other two victims in the crash were not identified. Their identities will be determined using DNA testing, according to Dutton.

The National Transportation and Safety Board is investigating the crash.
