Hillsboro’s upcoming art exhibit looks through the glass at a man’s lifelong journey of creativity.

“Reflections,” the latest exhibit at the Hillsboro Civic Center Gallery, opens its doors Sept. 3. Representing the artistic expedition of local artist Jim Miller, the exhibit is a culmination of over forty years of refining his passion for art glass.

A late bloomer in the realm of creativity, Miller originally hailed from Madison, Wisconsin, where he spent years honing his craft as both an artist and a carpenter. It wasn’t until later in life that Miller discovered his affinity for working with glass — a medium that would become central to his sense of expression.

Miller’s work is characterized by bright, bold colors and eccentric shapes that permeate with curiosity, displaying the intricate techniques of stained glass and mosaic that he has worked with for decades.

“Beauty, wonder and whimsy stay at the focal point of his process, hoping to bring playful feelings and a giggle from the viewer,” Hillsboro’s Cultural Arts Division said in a release.

The exhibit will be on display and free for all to view weekdays until Oct. 18.
