It’s beginning to look at least a little bit like Christmas with the announcement that tickets will soon go on sale for the Oregon International Ballet Academy’s rendition of “The Nutcracker” at the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts in Beaverton.

There will be two opportunities to catch the seasonal spectacle this year at either the 7 p.m. show Saturday, Nov. 23, or the 2 p.m. show Sunday, Nov. 24. The show runs 150 minutes including intermission.

Many of the students will perform multiple roles in the show, and some will perform different roles in each show. Multiple students’ parents will also play roles as party guests.

The OIBA is celebrating its 10th anniversary season this year, and its dancers also recently took home a first place prize among 140 competitors in the international Rising Stars Dance Competition in China.

OIBA dancers competed during a recent cultural exchange program, and in turn, “The Nutcracker” will feature guest dancers from Casa de Arte, a dance and performance studio in Kumamoto, Japan.

Tickets are $33.50 before Oct. 21 and rise to $43.50 afterward, and can be purchased online.
