If your son or daughter likes sports, are looking for instruction or are just interested in something new, Pacific University might have something for them.

This summer Pacific University Athletics will be offering their 2nd Annual Athletic Department Summer Camp and Junior Boxer All-Sports Camp.

The week-long camp is hosted by the Forest Grove university and provides a one-of-a-kind experience involving all 23 of the Boxer athletic department sports programs. This will be an action-packed week which highlights Pacific's elite men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports and coaching — which includes swimming — for all camp participants.

Pacific head men’s basketball coach, Justin Lunt, said prospective campers should expect an educational, social, and entertaining encounter.

“A camp participant can expect to experience up to six different sports in one day,” Lunt said, “learn a new skill, make a new friend, and have fun.”

The camp is being offered to kids from first grade thru eighth grade and during two separate sets of dates, with the half-day camps running June 17-21, with the full-day camps running June 24-28.

    Cost is $250 (half-day) or $325 (full-day).

As part of the camp, Boxer head coaches will work hands-on with youngsters to create an unrivaled experience. Each camper will be instructed by a Pacific University head coach, Pacific athletes, and assistant coaches which makes for a second to none athletic opportunity.

“This camp is unique in that it gives kids the chance to use college facilities, have direct access to our head coaches, and interact with some of our very own Division-III athletes,” Lunt said. “Plus, campers get exposure to over 20 different sports.”

The university, athletic department and its coaches hope to as part of the Junior Boxer All-Sports Camp, emphasize their family-oriented culture, love and passion for their games and all they involve, along with their collective missions in sports — and all in the interests of area kids.

“For us, it's a great opportunity to come together as an athletic department and share our passion for sport with local kids,” Lunt said. “Hearing stories from last year about how a camper can't wait to come back the next day or try a sport for the first time makes our hearts happy. Getting the youth moving and participating in sports to stay active and healthy is a benefit as well, and we want to set up our next generation for success.”
