    Forest Heights police launches new ‘HouseSafe Program’ for residents on vacation

    FOREST HEIGHTS, Md. ( DC News Now ) — The Forest Heights Police Department announced that it is introducing a new program for residents to keep their homes secured while they are on vacation.

    In a post on the X platform on July 15, the department announced it is launching its “HouseSafe Program.” The new initiative allows officers to complete four security checks daily to ensure homes are safe and secure.

    Forest Heights Police said HouseSafe patrol officers will check homes twice during the day and twice in the evening.

    Homeowners can submit the dates they will be gone online, and their property will be added to the “vacation watchers” list for officers.
