Commission urges Fort Worth to increase public art budget to meet population needs
Members of the Fort Worth Art Commission want the city to increase funding for its public art program — and not just in the 2025 budget. All commissioners in attendance approved a motion requesting an annual increase for the city’s public art program during their Aug. 20 meeting at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, the last that will be held at 1300 Gendy St.
TCU Upgrades Track and Tennis Facilities for Enhanced Performance
TCU Athletics has announced significant upgrades to the Lowden Track and Field Complex and Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The improvements include a new track surface and enhanced drainage systems at the track facility, alongside resurfacing of the tennis courts. These upgrades aim to position TCU as a competitive host for premier collegiate events. The track facility will close on Sept. 2 and is expected to reopen in January 2025, while resurfacing of tennis courts is planned between Aug. 24 and Sept. 7.

On August 19, 2024, the CFPB filed its reply brief in support of the CFPB’s motion to dismiss Plaintiff Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce (Fort Worth Chamber) for lack of standing and, if granted, transfer the case to the Federal District Court for D.C. in the lawsuit challenging the CFPB’s credit card late fee final rule (“Rule”). The CFPB filed its brief in support of the motion to dismiss on July 29, 2024 and the plaintiffs filed their brief in opposition to the CFPB’s motion to dismiss on August 12, 2024. Judge Pittman will hear the motion next week on August 27, 2024.
