    Students remain in hospital

    Update 10:50 a.m.:

    An email sent by the school district this morning said the the families of the two students have been in close contact with district personnel, and that both students "remain at the hospital receiving the best care possible."

    The statement continues:

    "The families are in good spirits and continue to appreciate the prayers and positive thoughts from our Forest Lake Area Schools community."

    The district will have "extra student support" available for students.

    "We continue to hold these students and their families in our thoughts and our hearts as they begin the process of recovery," the statement reads.

    Two high school track athletes were airlifted after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Highway 61 at 202nd St N. The two teenagers, both 15, were struck by 84-year-old Robert Creager of Lindstrom at approximately 3:30 on Tuesday, April 30, and were airlifted to an area hospital.

    Forest Lake Area School District superintendent Steve Massey released the following statement in response:

    "We were saddened to learn this afternoon that two of our high school student track athletes were struck by a vehicle as they were crossing Highway 61. ...Our hearts are with these students and their families."

    The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the crash. The Times will update as more information becomes available.
