    Sports Briefs - May 23, 2024

    The Forest Lake baseball team fell to Park of Cottage Grove in a Suburban East Conference battle on Friday, May 17, in a nail-biter of a game by way of a 9-8 final score. The Rangers clinched a 6-2 victory against the Roseville Raiders in their final home game on Monday, May 20, and will face Anoka on the road in their final game of the season on Wednesday, May 22 at 7 p.m.

    Softball

    The Forest Lake softball team finished its season with an 11-1 win over East Ridge on Wednesday, May 15, and won 7 of its last 8 games overall. The girls completed the season by posting a 15-4 record, and were rewarded with the No. 1 seed and a first round bye in the Section 7AAAA tournament. The Rangers will face the winner of a quarterfinals matchup between No. 4 seeded Anoka and No. 5 seeded Cambridge-Isanti on Saturday, May 25.

    Girls lacrosse

    After securing its second win of the season over Irondale in a 10-9 final on Wednesday, May 15, the Forest Lake girls lacrosse team lost a close matchup to a co-op unit in Grand Rapids/Greenway in a 12-9 final score. The squad has one game left on the year, coming against the Chisago Lakes Wildcats on Wednesday, May 22, as the team is currently 2-10 on the season.

    Boys lacrosse

    The Forest Lake boys lacrosse team recorded its first and long-awaited win of the year by defeating Grand Rapids/Greenway on the road on Thursday, May 16, in a 10-3 final score. Levi Hageman added a pair of goals, while Ezra Lukas led the team with a whopping six goals – a double hat trick. The boys have one final game left on the campaign, as the Rangers will host Chisago Lakes on Wednesday, May 22.

    Girls golf

    The Forest Lake girls golf team competed in a varsity invitational meet at Midland Hills Country Club on Monday, May 13. As a team, the Rangers earned fifth place amongst other SEC opponents with a 184 score – finishing five strokes ahead of Woodbury in sixth, and just a single point behind Cretin-Derham Hall in fourth.

    Bella Leonhart was the highest place finisher for the girls, firing off a 42 and tying for fifth place. Allie Hubbard recorded a 45, while Ella Brodt shot a 48.

    Track and field

    The Forest Lake track and field team took part in the Stillwater Area Throwdown meet hosted at Stillwater High School on Thursday, May 16. It was a day where only the girls competed in two events, as the boys had some time off before they participated in their next meet.

    Sophomore Alexis Fahey took first in the discus finals, with senior Maja Henslin taking fourth. Both Henslin and Fahey occupied the top two spots in the shot put category, earning first and second place, respectively.

    Synchro swim

    The Forest Lake synchronized swim team competed in the 2024 East Section meet on Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18, at Richfield High School. The Rangers took second-place overall as a collective unit, sending 16 of their 22 routines to the Class A state tournament at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center on Thursday, May 23, and Friday, May 24.
