Cal Bahr leading in Minnesota Senate District 31 GOP race
Current Minnesota Rep. Cal Bahr will be headed for the general primary to facing off against DFLer Jason Ruffalo for the Minnesota Senate District 31 race. With all precincts reporting, Bahr has tallied 78.57% of the vote with 3,935 votes. Competitor Maribella McDermid received 1,073 votes.
Nancy McLean takes Minnesota Senate District 33 DFL race
DFLer Nancy McLean is headed to run against Sen. Karin Housley in the newly formed Minnesota Senate District 33, which covers Forest Lake, Scandia and Stillwater. With all precincts reporting, McLean tallied 90.99% with 4,635 votes, in the DFL primary. Challenger Brian Baber had 459 votes.

Jeff Reinert, Cindy Hansen to face off again in Anoka County Commissioner race
Jeff Reinert and Cindy Hansen are headed for another face-off in the general election for Anoka County Commissioner District 3. With all precincts reporting, Reinert lead the three candidates, tallying 58.34% with 2,775 votes. Hansen received 31.93% with 1,519 votes. Linwood resident Kevin Ryan is tallied a total of 463 votes, or 9.73%.

Jeff Reinert and Cindy Hansen are seemingly headed for another face-off in the general election for Anoka County Commissioner District 3. With 124 out of 128 precincts reporting, Reinert leads the three candidates with 53.39% of the votes, or 2,651. Hansen has received 32.31% or 1,467 votes. Linwood resident Kevin Ryan is coming in with 422 votes, or 9.3%.

$1 million lottery ticket sold in Forest Lake
A Forest Lake gas station was the site of a $1 million lottery ticket purchase. On Monday, Aug. 1, it was announced that one ticket in Illinois hit Friday’s $1.3 billion Mega Millions Jackpot, but two Minnesota ticket-buyers won $1 million: one ticket was sold in Fridley, the other at Forest Lake’s Holiday Stationstore at 1208 W. Broadway Ave. The two Minnesota prizes had yet to be claimed as of Tuesday, Aug. 2. Winners have a year from the drawing date to claim prizes.
