Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs last week appointed the president of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff to the state board of education. Gov. Hobbs' office announced NAU President José Luis Cruz Rivera to the State Board of Education. Hobbs said the state education board is an 11-member board charged with regulating and developing rules concerning primary and secondary public education in the state.

A transgender woman who was assaulted by a male inmate while imprisoned in a men’s unit at an Arizona prison has been awarded $10,000 in a federal civil rights complaint. Grace Pinson, 38, was named as Jeremy Pinson in court documents and defended herself during a four-day bench trial in a Tucson federal court.

PHOENIX — The Arizona Court of Appeals has affirmed an injunction issued last year that required the City of Phoenix to clear out a large encampment known as "The Zone."
