She began her career as an Airframe and Powerplant technician and transitioned into a management position, providing her with opportunities to learn various aspects of the aviation industry. It’s rare to see the Chicago Red Stars participate in shootouts because NWSL regular-season games end in regulation, so fans got a treat on July 20. Gotham knocked off the Red Stars 5-4 on penalty kicks after regulation ended in a scoreless draw during the first round of the Summer Cup tournament at SeatGeek Stadium.

Artist David R. Becker celebrates after winning best of show at the Evanston Plein Air Festival for his painting looking west on Noyes Street at the CTA viaduct. Becker, of Ingleside, painted all five days this week. He said he wasn’t sure what to enter, but a woman watching him work on Noyes told him: “You’re going to win the award,” as he was finishing this painting. “It’s all about the light,” Becker said. “I started at 8 a.m. on Friday. Woman slashed at Jackson Blue Line, suspect in custody
CHICAGO — A woman is recovering after a man stabbed her during an altercation on the Blue Line downtown Sunday afternoon. Police said the victim, 22, was on the Jackson Blue Line platform when she got into a “verbal altercation” with a 55-year-old man around 3:29 p.m. During the argument, the man swung a sharp object at the woman, according to CPD. She suffered lacerations to both forearms and multiple cuts on her hands. Despite that, police said she declined medical attention.
