Investigation into fentanyl trafficking into Chico leads to two arrests
CHICO, Calif. — Arrests were made following an investigation into fentanyl being trafficked to Butte County from a property in Tehama County. According to the Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force (BINTF), agents developed information that fentanyl was being trafficked into Chico from a location in Tehama County, just north of the Butte County line. Based on the information, the BINTF obtained a search warrant for a 20-acre property at 29900 Lassen Road. They also received information that firearms had been fired on the property within the last several weeks.
Chico man in court for 'ninja style' assault; faces charges of attempted rape, kidnapping
MAGALIA, Calif. — A Chico man was in court to face charges of residential burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, attempted murder and attempted rape of a child under 10-years-old on Thursday following what District Attorney Mike Ramsey called a "ninja style assault" in Magalia on Aug. 25, 2024.

The PARK FIRE was started by an arsonist on July 24, 2024, at 1452 hours PT, burning off Upper Park Road in Bidwell Park in Chico, California in Butte and Tehama Counties. The fire is being managed by a USFS Southwest Area IMT 2 with Unified Command with CAL FIRE Butte Unit, CAL FIRE Tehama-Glenn Unit, and Lassen National Forest.
Prescribed burn slowed Park Fire
BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - Firefighters say a prescribed burn they did last fall near Cohasset helped protect the community from the Park Fire. The prescribed burn was part of a larger 1,200-acre Loafer LLC vegetation management project. The goal was to build a fuel break to stop wildfires in the foothills near Cohasset and Forest Ranch.
