Canine flu cases temporarily close Montgomery Humane Society
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - The Montgomery Humane Society will be closed until Saturday due to canine flu cases. The Humane Society says it has over 40 symptomatic dogs in the facility. Dogs in the adoption center will need to be placed in isolation and will not be available for adoption for 28 days. Adoptions of the exposed dogs will be halted for a period of four weeks.
First TR-3 F-35 aircraft lands in Dannelly Field
The first TR-3 F-35 has arrived at the Dannelly Field at Alabama Air National Guard in Montgomery, said a recent announcement from the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce. The plane is a product of Lockheed Martin sporting the Technology Refresh 3 (TR-3) software, a computer processing electronics upgrade said to enhance is combat capabilities.

Watermelon Festival Pageant crowns new queen
“It’s an honor to represent Franklin County,” said Annie Willis, crowned overall Queen in the 2024 Franklin County Watermelon Pageant held Saturday at the Russellville City Schools auditorium. Pell City man gets 71 months for $4.7 million investor fraud scheme
PELL CITY, Ala. (WBMA) — A Pell City man was sentenced in a scheme to defraud more than 40 investors in his various companies. 48-year-old John Michael Golden was given 71 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. He pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud back in April.
