Haaland Announces $16M for Drought Resilience During Washington State Visit
TOPPENISH, WA – Secretary Haaland concluded a multi-day visit to Washington State to celebrate major progress in implementing President Biden’s Investing in America agenda to safeguard communities from increased threat of wildland fire and severe drought, restore ecosystems, and strengthen tribal communities. During her visit, Secretary Haaland met with tribal leaders from the Confederated Tribes of the Yakama Nation, Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe, and Puyallup Tribe, as well as Bureau of Indian Education-funded staff and personnel. On the heels of the devastating 1980 Slide Ranch Fire in late June, Secretary Haaland also met with more than 50 Yakama Nation firefighters to express the Biden-Harris administration’s commitment to sharing resources, investing in resilience efforts, and prioritizing permanent pay reforms and increases for tribal firefighters.

MINI TAKES THE STATES (MTTS) 2024, an iconic MINI owners rally hosted by MINI USA, came to close this weekend in Seattle, Wash., after making an epic nine-day journey from Albuquerque, N.M. The highly anticipated event held every other summer attracted nearly 2,000 MINI owners who rallied more than 1,600 miles through five states and nine cities in the western U.S. Of those nearly 2,000 owners, 958 went 'all the way' and 517 were 'first timers'.
