Seattle Kokon Taiko at City Park Sunday as Edmonds summer concert series continues
Next up in the free City of Edmonds Summer Concerts in the Park series is Seattle Kokon Taiko from 3-4 p.m. Sunday, July 28 at Edmonds City Park, 600 3rd Ave. S. Taiko is an ancient, dynamic synthesis of rhythm, movement and the spirit of Japan. Seattle Kokon Taiko roots are from an offshoot of the Seattle Taiko Group, which formed in April 1980. In 1992, the two groups merged to form Seattle Kokon Taiko. The ensemble combines traditional Taiko with the modern in a repertoire that is a mix of traditional pieces and contemporary compositions. Olympics: Hailey Van Lith Profile
The final Washington athlete competing for Team USA we take a look at is Hailey Van Lith. Van Lith is from Wenatchee and went to Cashmere High School where she had a marvelous high school career playing basketball, including being the state’s all-time leading scorer and reaching the state semis all four years in her high school career and the state championship game three of four years. She was the WIAA 1A MVP in 2018 and 2019, and the Player of the Year in 1A in 2018 and 2019. She was a three-time 1A WIAA All-State first team and was the 2020 Gatorade and MaxPreps Player of the Year in Washington. Van Lith went to Louisville to play college basketball before transferring to LSU for one year. Van Lith will head to TCU in the fall to play for the Horned Frogs.
